Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronic waste

Not on the regular city route

Televisions, computers and other electronics stay out of the trash cart and out of the recycling cart. Two routes are published for the city: the two hazardous waste and e-waste days at the Department of Public Works, or a public electronics drop off that charges per item.

City cost & eligibility
From $25 per television at the public electronics drop off, which also lists cathode ray tube monitors at a lower rate and printers, copiers and fax machines below that. Fees are collected when the item arrives, and most other electronics such as computers, cell phones, monitors, servers, audio equipment and game consoles are taken at no charge. The city's hazardous waste and e-waste days at the DPW are the municipal route and publish no fee.
When & how
The city's household hazardous waste and e-waste days run May 16 and September 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 19700 Pleasant Street. The public electronics drop off takes items on weekday business hours.
Get it ready
Keep screens whole and dry, and plan to carry the item in yourself. Batteries, cell phones, computers and televisions are all listed as material that does not belong in curbside recycling, and the county household hazardous waste events do not accept computers or any other electronic device.

City of St. Clair Shores Public Works Department with Express Waste Services

Weekly curbside collection with Express Waste

A household setting out mattresses, couches, appliances, exercise equipment or prepared homeowner building material with the regular collection on its service day.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Curbside service is inside the residential quarterly rate every household already pays, and the hauler answers that large item pickups carry no separate charge. The rate amount is not published on the pages read for this guide, so confirm your quarterly bill with the hauler at 248-927-1391.
Arrange it
Curbside collection covers large household items, but televisions and other electronics are not part of it. Take the set to the city's hazardous waste and e-waste days on May 16 and September 19 at the DPW, or to a public electronics drop off, and put everything else at the curb by 7 a.m. on your service day.

Televisions, computers, cell phones and batteries are refused in the trash cart and in the recycling cart, and the county hazardous waste events do not accept electronic devices. Anything else you set out still has to be at the curb by 7 a.m., sized to one room's worth, and inside the 32 gallon and 60 pound container limit.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in St. Clair Shores runs through the Department of Public Works at 19700 Pleasant Street. The Long Monday drop off takes non-hazardous debris the curbside collection will not, including clean concrete and bricks, and metal fence posts with the concrete broken off, on the second Monday of each month from April through October, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., limited to one pickup-truck sized load per address per month with proof of residency possibly requested. Paint and household hazardous waste are not accepted there. Hazardous waste and electronics wait for the city's collection days on May 16 and September 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same address, while Macomb County runs appointment-only hazardous waste events for county residents at a Mt. Clemens site and does not take computers or other electronics. For year round electronics recycling, a public drop off south of the city takes items on weekday business hours and charges per item for televisions and monitors. Motor oil and cooking oil can be left at the DPW complex at any time on the cart under the sign in front of the building. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in St. Clair Shores.

How much does TV removal cost in St. Clair Shores?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in St. Clair Shores?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and electronics go in St. Clair Shores?

Televisions, batteries, cell phones and computers are listed as material to keep out of the curbside recycling cart, and the city collects electronics twice a year at its hazardous waste and e-waste days on Pleasant Street. A public electronics drop off is the year round alternative, and the county hazardous waste events do not take electronic devices.Official guidance

Is there a drop off for old computers and monitors near the city?

Yes. A published public drop off takes computers, cell phones, monitors, servers, cables and video equipment at no charge on weekday business hours, and charges per item for televisions, cathode ray tube monitors and printers, copiers and fax machines, with payment taken when the item arrives.Official guidance

Where do paint, gasoline and other household chemicals go?

Oil based paint and chemicals such as gasoline, herbicides, paint thinner and pesticides go to a household hazardous waste collection day, and the Macomb County program takes appointments for its Mt. Clemens events with the hotline at 586-469-5236. Latex paint is dried with cat litter or sand and set out with the lids off, and the city's own hazardous waste days at the DPW run on May 16 and September 19, 2026.Official guidance
