Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, monitors and fluorescent bulbs are on the City's acceptable list for the free bulk waste drop-off days, and almost anything with a cord or a battery is taken at the City's electronics and appliance recycling events.

City cost & eligibility
A television or monitor can ride a free bulk waste drop-off day load for a current City trash customer, while the City electronics and appliance recycling events and the county Recycle Works sites charge published per unit fees that vary by screen type and size. Confirm the route and the current fee before loading.
When & how
Drop-off days run 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on six Saturdays in 2026, and the electronics and appliance recycling events run 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the alternate Saturdays, both listed on the City pages.
Get it ready
Keep televisions and computers dry, because the county sites refuse wet or dirty electronics, and bring bulbs intact since broken bulbs and lamps are not accepted at the City events.

Bulky items and extra refuse

Accepted with preparation

Anything that does not fit fully inside the refuse cart is bulk waste, handled either by a free City drop-off day or by a curbside bulky pickup billed per hopper space.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free at the City bulk waste drop-off days for a current City of O'Fallon trash customer in good standing who shows photo ID with an O'Fallon address, unloads the items personally, and brings one car, pickup or small trailer load of 10 feet or less per address. A curbside bulky pickup is billed per hopper space instead.
When & how
Drop-off days run 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on six Saturdays in 2026. A curbside bulky pickup is requested through the City pick-up request form or by calling 636-272-0477.
Get it ready
Each curbside item has to stay under 60 pounds and fit the 6 foot by 3 foot by 3 foot hopper space, and the fee applies per hopper space rather than per item. Carts go out by 6:30 a.m., four feet from any obstacle, with the handle facing the home, and boxes belong inside the cart with the lid closed.

Right item.
Right place.

Cart at the curb by 6:30 a.m.

The City trucks are automated, so carts go out by 6:30 a.m. on the collection day with the handle facing the home, and they stay four feet away from parked cars, mailboxes, trees and other obstacles. Only the cart is emptied, so boxes belong inside it with the lid closed and anything else needs a scheduled bulky pickup.

Six free bulk waste drop-off days a year

The City holds free bulk waste drop-off days at the waste transfer station from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on six Saturdays in 2026. A household has to be a current City trash customer with the account in good standing, show photo ID with an O'Fallon address, unload its own items, and bring only one car, pickup or small trailer load of ten feet or less per address.

Most holidays do not change collection

Collection runs as normal on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day and Christmas Eve in 2026. Service moves to the next day for New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and the rest of that week moves forward through Saturday.

2026 holiday collection schedule

Hazardous material never goes in the cart

Reactive, corrosive, ignitable or toxic material is not collected, and neither are liquids, gasoline or motor oil. Latex paint has to be mixed with an absorbent such as kitty litter and completely dried before it goes out, and sharps belong in a rigid container such as an empty detergent bottle rather than a coffee can, milk jug or glass. Hazardous liquids go to a county household hazardous waste collection instead.

City of O'Fallon Environmental Services, with St. Charles County Recycle Works

City trash and recycling service

O'Fallon households that receive weekly trash collection from the City and want the recycling cart that comes with it.

Cost & conditions
$11.48 per month for the City's standard weekly trash service, with recycling included at no additional charge. The City bills its own customers on the bi-monthly trash bill and publishes its rate alongside neighboring cities and haulers. Yard waste pickup is a separate optional monthly service, and a second trash cart carries its own monthly rental.
Arrange it
Start or change service through the City utility billing office, then set the carts out by 6:30 a.m. on the collection day.

Only non-hazardous household refuse is collected, nothing outside the cart is emptied, and bulky items, appliances, yard waste, liquids and hazardous material all need a different City service.

Free bulk waste drop-off days

O'Fallon households already paying for City trash service with furniture, mattresses, carpet, exercise equipment, televisions or similar items that will not fit the cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Current City trash customers in good standing only, with photo ID showing an O'Fallon address, self unloading, and one car, pickup or small trailer load of ten feet or less per address for each of the six 2026 drop-off days.
Arrange it
Bring the load to the City waste transfer station between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on a published drop-off Saturday and empty all gas and oil from the items first.

Appliances, tires, auto parts and batteries, yard waste, railroad ties and liquid household hazardous waste are refused, and commercial vehicles, rental vehicles, box trucks and trailers over ten feet are turned away.

Curbside bulky pickup

Households that want a bulky item collected at the curb instead of hauling it to a drop-off day.

Cost & conditions
$20 per hopper space for a curbside bulky pickup, added to the bi-monthly trash bill for a resident with City of O'Fallon trash service. Non-residents who receive City trash service are billed a higher published amount per hopper space. Each item must stay under 60 pounds and fit inside the 6 foot by 3 foot by 3 foot hopper space, and appliances are handled as a separate white goods pickup.
Arrange it
Submit the City pick-up request form or call 636-272-0477, then set the items where the confirmation directs on the pickup day.

The fee is charged per hopper space rather than per item, so several small items can share one space, and nothing that exceeds the weight or hopper limits will be taken.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in O'Fallon.

How much does TV removal cost in O'Fallon?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in O'Fallon?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television go out on a bulk waste drop-off day?

Yes. Computer monitors, televisions and fluorescent bulbs are on the City's acceptable list for the bulk waste drop-off days, with one car, pickup or small trailer load allowed per address for a current trash customer.Official guidance

What can I bring to an O'Fallon electronics recycling event?

Almost anything with an electrical cord or a battery, including computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, laptops, hard drives, scanners, phones, radios, stereos and small appliances. The events are open to everyone rather than only O'Fallon residents, most items are free, and a published list of per unit fees applies to televisions, monitors, copiers, freon units and bulbs.Official guidance

What is accepted at a City bulk waste drop-off day?

Furniture, carpet, swing sets, bikes, toddler pools, mattresses, sports and exercise equipment, lawn mowers, large hand tools, barbecue grills, computer monitors, televisions and fluorescent bulbs, with all gas and oil emptied before the item is dropped off. Appliances, tires, auto parts and batteries, yard waste, railroad ties and liquid household hazardous waste are refused.Official guidance

Will the crew take bags set beside the trash cart?

No. Nothing outside the cart is collected, because the trucks are automated and the crews do not leave the cab. Extra material needs a curbside bulky pickup or a trip to one of the City's bulk waste drop-off days.Official guidance

What does O'Fallon charge to take a couch or a mattress?

The City runs free bulk waste drop-off days six times a year for current trash customers, and a curbside bulky pickup is billed per hopper space on the bi-monthly trash bill. Each curbside item has to stay under the published weight limit, appliances are handled as a separate white goods pickup, and recycling is already included in the monthly trash rate.Official guidance

What can never go in an O'Fallon trash cart?

Reactive, corrosive, ignitable or toxic material, any liquid, gasoline or motor oil, and refuse mixed with yard waste. Latex paint has to be mixed with an absorbent and completely dried first, and sharps belong in a rigid container such as an empty detergent bottle. Batteries never go in the trash or the recycling cart, because lithium batteries can start a fire.Official guidance

Where do O'Fallon residents take paint, chemicals and other hazardous material?

To Recycle Works Central in St. Charles or Recycle Works West in Wentzville from May 1 through September 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, with no appointment. The county charges a published amount for a load up to 50 pounds and more per pound above that, payable by cash or check only, and the sites refuse latex paint along with mattresses, tires, carpet and regular trash.Official guidance
