Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

Televisions, computers and other electronics

Accepted with preparation

North Carolina bans electronics from landfills, so Concord collects televisions, computers and anything with a circuit board at the curb on the recycling day, and the county takes them free as well.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Concord lists e-waste as a curbside category with no published per-item charge, the Cabarrus County Landfill states that electronics do not have a fee, and Habitat Cabarrus ReStore takes flat-screen televisions and laptops as free donations.
When & how
Set the device out by 6 a.m. on the recycling collection day, 2 feet from the garbage and recycling carts, or drop it at the county landfill or the household hazardous waste facility on a scheduled collection day or by appointment.
Get it ready
Never put a television, monitor or computer in the garbage or recycling cart, because the state ban and the city's own recycling list both exclude them. Erase anything that stores personal data before it leaves the house, and expect a desktop computer or printer to be refused by the ReStore, which takes laptops and flat-screen televisions rather than tube sets.

City of Concord Solid Waste Services and Cabarrus County Solid Waste Management

Set bulky items out with the city collection

A Concord household with furniture, an appliance, a mattress, electronics or a small construction load that the roll-out carts will not take.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Bulky waste and the separate e-waste collection are part of the residential service, collected bi-weekly on the recycling day, with no published per-item charge inside the limit of 10 cubic yards of bulky waste or 6 cubic yards of bulky waste plus 4 cubic yards of construction debris.
Arrange it
Put the items at the curb by 6 a.m. on the recycling collection day, 2 feet from the carts and clear of obstructions, and call Customer Care at 704-920-5555 with questions about a particular item.

Items too heavy for two people must be dismantled, individual items are capped at 65 pounds unless they roll, tires are limited to two collections a year and eight tires per collection, and anything encased in concrete is refused. A pile above the city's volume limit becomes a paid roll-off container.

Donate to Habitat Cabarrus ReStore

A household with furniture, a working appliance, a flat-screen television, usable building materials or exercise equipment that is still good enough to sell again.

Cost & conditions
No charge. ReStore takes donations at no charge and picks up larger items free through its donation hotline, with the pickup scheduled about a week ahead.
Arrange it
Call the donation hotline at 704.786.4000 to schedule a pickup, or drop items off Tuesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2902 South Cannon Blvd. in Kannapolis.

Crews do not enter the home, so items go in a garage, on the porch or at the curb, and apartment donations have to be in the first-floor breezeway. ReStore cannot take mattresses, box springs, sleeper sofas, tube televisions, desktop computers, printers, dishwashers or appliances over 15 years old.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

The self-haul route for this address is Cabarrus County, and the same landfill on Irish Potato Road takes both kinds of load. Household and yard waste goes by the bag or by the pickup or trailer with a published per-load fee, and construction and demolition debris goes by weight with its own schedule, subject to a state disposal tax, and only credit or debit cards are accepted with no cash. The county refuses residential waste in trailers over 8 feet long or in box trucks and refuses house and rental cleanouts, and it is not accepting construction and demolition waste from roll-off trucks or from whole home tear-downs. Scrap metal and appliances, drained power lawn equipment, electronics, and up to five tires per load from county residents carry no drop-off charge, which makes the county the better route for a working appliance or an old computer than a paid load of mixed debris. County landfill for self-haul loads

Cabarrus County Landfill

4441 Irish Potato Road, Concord, NC 28025

Construction and demolition debris and yard waste, plus residential household and yard waste by the load. Scrap metal and appliances, power lawn equipment drained of gasoline and oil, electronics, and up to five tires per load from county residents carry no drop-off charge.

Credit and debit cards only, with no cash. No residential waste in trailers over 8 feet in length and no box trucks, and no house or rental house cleanouts. Construction and demolition waste is not accepted from roll-off trucks or whole home and commercial tear-downs, and loose trash must be bagged. Construction loads are cut off before closing time.

Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with construction and demolition waste refused after 4:45 p.m. on weekdays and 11:45 a.m. on Saturdays, half an hour earlier for hand unloads.

From $6 per load of up to five 32-gallon bags of household or yard waste, with published per-load rates up to ten bags and per-ton rates for construction and demolition material, subject to a state disposal tax. Cabarrus County Landfill, 4441 Irish Potato Road, Concord, for residents bringing their own load. Only credit and debit cards are accepted. A credit is offered for bringing recyclable material with the load, and scrap metal, appliances, electronics and up to five tires carry no drop-off charge.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Concord.

How much does TV removal cost in Concord?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Concord?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

How does a television leave a Concord home?

Concord collects e-waste at the curb on the same day as your recycling, 2 feet from the carts and never inside them, and the state ban on electronics in landfills is why. The Cabarrus County Landfill and the county household hazardous waste facility also take electronics with no drop-off charge, and a working flat-screen television can be donated to Habitat Cabarrus ReStore.Official guidance
