Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Special rules apply

Salisbury will not collect electronics on any city route. Televisions, computers and electronics are refused in the bulky and Spruce Up lists, and the city sends residents to the Rowan County Recycling Center on (704) 216-8589 instead, with a call first instruction for hazardous items, paint, oil, gas and liquids. Lithium-ion batteries are moving to their own collection bins in fall 2026.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no fee for electronics because it does not collect them, and the county centre sets its own terms. Call the Rowan County Recycling Center on (704) 216-8589 to confirm what it takes, when it is open and whether anything is charged before a screen or computer leaves the house.
When & how
Call the county recycling centre first, then deliver the electronics in the way it directs. Do not set a television or computer at the curb on any collection day.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers and phones, keep cables and remotes with the device, tape the terminals on any lithium-ion battery and keep it in a leakproof open container rather than the cart, and keep electronics out of the green trash cart and the blue recycling cart.

Carts out by 7 a.m. on the shared collection day

Garbage and yard waste are collected every week and recycling every other week, all on the same weekday, and the carts go to the roadside by 7 a.m. and come back in by midnight. Put the cart within two feet of the roadside with the handle facing the house, leave three feet between it and anything else such as another cart, a mailbox or a pole, and keep it out of the street. Garbage is bagged inside the green city cart, and regular collection runs on every holiday except Christmas.

What the city will not take on any route

Tires, rims, batteries, vehicle parts, building materials, paint, bricks, concrete, lumber, shingles and carpet are all refused by the Solid Waste Division, and the bulky and Spruce Up lists add televisions, computers, electronics, hazardous items, pianos and hospital beds. Building material goes to the Rowan County Landfill and electronics, paint, oils, gas and liquids go to the Rowan County Recycling Center, which the city asks residents to call first.

City of Salisbury Public Works Department with Rowan County drop-off sites

Use the Rowan County sites for what the city refuses

A household with electronics, paint, oil, gas, liquids or building material that the city will not collect on any route.

Cost & conditions
The county sets its own terms and the city publishes no rates for either site, only the phone numbers. Confirm the accepted list, the hours and any charge before loading, and call the county recycling centre first about hazardous items because that is what the city instructs.
Arrange it
Call the Rowan County Recycling Center on (704) 216-8589 about electronics and hazardous items, and the Rowan County Landfill on (704) 278-2211 about building material, then take the load to whichever lane they direct.

These are county facilities rather than city services, addresses and hours are given out by phone rather than on the city page, and up to five tires without rims can also go to the landfill on Campbell Road in Woodleaf at any time.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Salisbury does not run a public drop-off yard for household items, so self haul means the county sites the city names and the free compost giveaway on Grubb Ferry Road. Building material, paint, lumber, sheet rock, carpet, padding, large area rugs, shingles, toilets, sinks, windows and doors are refused by city crews and referred to the Rowan County Landfill at 789 Campbell Road in Woodleaf on (704) 278-2211, which also takes up to five tires without rims at any time. Televisions, computers, electronics and hazardous items are refused too and referred to the Rowan County Recycling Center on (704) 216-8589, where the city asks residents to call first about paint, oils, gas and any liquids. Tires also have the free route: up to five without rims during a Spruce Up Week, left at the curb because they are collected the following Monday and taken to a separate facility. For yard material the city keeps a composting facility at 1955 Grubb Ferry Road and gives compost away free on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to city residents and people from surrounding areas, with no limit, no deliveries and a holiday closure. Households that cannot move a load themselves at all can ask about the free Waste Collection Assistance programme, which puts an address on a list for crews to bring carts to the curb when a disability makes that difficult. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Salisbury.

How much does TV removal cost in Salisbury?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Salisbury?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Salisbury?

To the Rowan County Recycling Center on (704) 216-8589. The city refuses televisions, computers and electronics on the bulky route and during Spruce Up Weeks and tells residents to call the county centre instead, asking them to call first about hazardous items, paint, oil, gas and liquids.Official guidance

Does Salisbury collect trash on holidays?

Yes. Regular garbage collection runs on every holiday except Christmas, so the weekly schedule holds through most of the year, and carts still go out by 7 a.m. on the normal collection day.Official guidance
