Finish clearing the space
The last few things still deserve a pickup.
You have decided what is going. Now give those bags and boxes a pickup day, with a price you can see before anyone arrives.
The move is nearly done.
Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.
The clear-out can be finished.
You do not need a whole house of junk. Select the bags, boxes and larger items you actually have. Your combined price is shown online.
You want to know it is handled.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky furniture leaves the curb with the town's twice-yearly collection, and the permit drop-off takes furniture and lumber up to three pallets a day.
City cost & eligibility
The town publishes no per-item price for either route. Confirm the current charge with the Public Services Department at 252-480-4080 before set-out or drop-off.
When & how
Roadside furniture is collected only in the spring and fall windows. The fall 2026 set-out runs Sunday, October 4 through Sunday, October 18, with collection starting Monday, October 19, 2026.
Get it ready
Bundle furniture separately from yard waste, white goods and construction material. Place it at the edge of the property near the roadway, never on the asphalt, and keep it clear of poles, mailboxes, hydrants and water meters.
Mattresses and box springs belong in the furniture bundle at the twice-yearly collection, and the permit drop-off takes up to three sets a day.
City cost & eligibility
The town publishes no per-set price, and the county sites weigh loads with the first 500 pounds free for residential customers. Confirm the receiving site and its charge before transport.
When & how
Collected in the same spring and fall windows as the rest of the approved bulk items; the permit drop-off takes them during its regular weekday and Saturday hours.
Get it ready
Keep mattresses in the furniture bundle rather than the white goods or yard bundles, and confirm with the receiving site first if the mattress is wet or soiled.
White goods travel in their own bundle, and the permit drop-off plus the county transfer stations take appliances such as washers, dryers and stoves.
City cost & eligibility
The town publishes no per-item price for the white goods bundle, and the county weighs loads with the first 500 pounds free for residential customers. Confirm the charge for the destination you choose.
When & how
Collected with the approved white goods and metals bundle during the twice-yearly collection, or taken to the drop-off and county sites during their published hours.
Get it ready
Remove refrigerator and freezer doors, keep motors free of fuel and oil, and keep nothing longer than 12 feet. Do not mix white goods with yard waste or furniture.
Cooling appliances are collected in the white goods bundle with the doors removed, but the county will not recycle a refrigerant appliance, so the destination needs confirming.
City cost & eligibility
Confirm the receiving site before moving a cooling appliance. The town publishes no per-item price, and the county asks that appliances containing refrigerant stay out of the recycling stream.
When & how
Send the unit with the twice-yearly white goods bundle, or ask Public Services at 252-480-4080 which drop-off will accept it.
Get it ready
Remove the doors, keep the refrigerant circuit intact and do not crush the unit. County recycling asks that appliances containing refrigerant be separated from ordinary scrap metal.
Glass, televisions and mirrors are prohibited in the town's roadside bulk collection, and the county lists electronics drop-off at participating centers instead.
City cost & eligibility
Confirm the receiving site and its rules before transporting a screen or computer. The county table lists electronics at participating centers, while the town brochures publish no electronics route.
When & how
Use a county electronics drop-off during its published hours rather than the roadside collection.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, monitors, computers and other electronics out of the bulk bundles and take them to a designated drop-off site.
Construction material is excluded from the roadside collection, and the permit drop-off takes only limited daily quantities. Larger projects go to the county landfill.
City cost & eligibility
The permit drop-off limits are daily quantities rather than prices, and the county sites weigh loads with the first 500 pounds free for residential customers. Confirm the total before loading.
When & how
Use the permit drop-off during its weekday and Saturday hours, or the county sites in Manns Harbor and Buxton during theirs.
Get it ready
Keep construction debris out of the roadside bundles. Drop-off limits include one pickup-truck load of shingles, one wheelbarrow of asphalt or brick, and up to three pallets of lumber per day. Commercial material, lot clearing and stumps must go to the Dare County C&D Landfill.
Approved bulk items are collected only in spring and fall. The fall 2026 window opens for set-out on Sunday, October 4 and closes on Sunday, October 18, with collection starting Monday, October 19, 2026. Unsorted or unapproved piles are not collected.
Branches and trunks, bagged paper yard waste, white goods and metals, and large furniture go out separately. Nothing is placed on the asphalt, and piles stay clear of poles, mailboxes, hydrants and water meters.
