Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Passaic treats covered electronic devices as a separate curbside stream that rides the street cleaning route, and Passaic County adds free collection events for computers, monitors, printers and televisions.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. City of Passaic household using the covered electronic device collection on its street cleaning day, or a Passaic County resident with proof of residency at a county computer and electronics collection event.
When & how
Put televisions and small electronics out on your street cleaning day rather than the garbage day, and keep them apart from paper, bottles, glass and plastics. The county's next 2026 collection runs Friday October 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday October 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Buehler's Cultural Center.
Get it ready
Never mix a covered electronic device with the recycling stream, and keep rechargeable batteries out of the garbage and recycling carts because the city flags them as a fire risk. Wipe data from computers and drives before handover, and ask the county about a device with a battery that cannot be removed.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Appliances and covered electronics need their own route

White goods such as air conditioners, dishwashers, grills, refrigerators, stoves and washing machines are collected on an appointment that you book with Public Works at 973-365-5654, and they never go in the garbage or recycling container. Televisions and small electronics take a third route and are picked up on your street cleaning day, kept apart from paper, bottles, glass and plastics.

Keep construction debris and chemicals out of every stream

Bricks, cement blocks, floor and ceiling tile, nails, paint, plaster, sheetrock or drywall, studs, windows, wood pallets, wood flooring and mirrors are refused by the city, and the homeowner arranges disposal separately. Rechargeable batteries, charcoal and pool chemicals stay out of the roll carts as well, and household chemicals belong at a Passaic County household hazardous waste collection.

A city household with a television, monitor, microwave, radio, speaker or another small electronic device.

Cost & conditions
No charge. City of Passaic household using the covered electronic device collection on its street cleaning day. No fee is published for the service.
Arrange it

Free Passaic County electronics collections

A Passaic County household with computers, monitors, printers, televisions or other electronic equipment that it would rather drop off on a collection day.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free for Passaic County residents with proof of residency. Businesses and institutions have to call the Recycling Division for pre-registration.
Arrange it
Bring the items to a county collection date: Friday October 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or Saturday October 24 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Buehler's Cultural Center, 950 High Mountain Road in North Haledon. The county's other 2026 site was the Bloomingdale Senior Center on April 10 and April 11.

Two collection weekends a year only, on the published dates, and household material only unless a business pre-registers. The county's household hazardous waste events list electronics as unacceptable, so this electronics collection is the county route for screens and computers rather than the chemical event.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Most of what leaves a Passaic household does not need to be driven anywhere. Furniture, mattresses and box springs go out with the regular garbage collection two items at a time, with cloth items wrapped in plastic, and covered electronic devices go out on the street cleaning day instead. Appliances are the exception that needs a phone call, because air conditioners, dishwashers, grills, refrigerators, stoves and washing machines are collected as white goods on an appointment with Public Works. Household chemicals are a county errand: Passaic County runs free household hazardous waste collections for county residents, including a city lot on First Street on November 1, 2026, and free computer and electronics collections at Buehler's Cultural Center on October 23 and 24. Construction debris has no public route at all, so a renovation load is arranged privately with a hauler or container company. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Passaic.

How much does TV removal cost in Passaic?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Passaic?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and small electronics go in Passaic?

Televisions, monitors and small electronics such as toasters, microwaves, radios and speakers are picked up on your street cleaning day, kept separate from paper, bottles, glass and plastics. Passaic County also runs free computer and electronics collections for county residents with proof of residency, with the next 2026 dates on October 23 and October 24 at Buehler's Cultural Center in North Haledon.Official guidance

How does a bulk pickup work in Passaic?

Bulk items go out with the regular garbage collection rather than on a separate day, and a household may set out two items per pickup. Mattresses, home furniture and box springs are the items the city names, and any cloth furniture has to be wrapped fully in plastic before it is set out. White goods and covered electronic devices take separate routes.Official guidance
