Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and small electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, computers, monitors and cell phones are collected at the curb on Thursday night with the other electronic waste, while small non metal appliances go out with the regular garbage.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Hoboken households on the city collection route, because the city lists computers, televisions, monitors and cell phones in the Thursday electronic waste stream and publishes no fee for the collection.
When & how
Put the device at the curb after 7:30 p.m., or after 9 p.m. in the Limited Business Area, on Thursday night, and leave it for the Friday morning pickup before noon. Lithium ion batteries go out with the electronic waste on the same night.
Get it ready
Wipe or remove the storage from a computer or phone before it goes out, and keep batteries out of the recycling bins, because the city states plainly that no batteries should be in recycling. Alkaline batteries go with regular garbage, lithium ion batteries go with electronic waste, and compact fluorescent bulbs go to a home improvement retailer while incandescent bulbs and lighting fixtures go with the garbage.

Thursday is the metal, yard waste and electronics night

Thursday night carries metal furniture, appliances, yard waste, electronic waste, paper recycling and cardboard, and those streams are collected on Friday morning before noon by crews that are separate from the garbage round. Appliances need their doors removed, electronic waste covers computers, televisions, monitors and cell phones with lithium ion batteries, and yard waste needs separated piles with tied branches, while paper and cardboard have to be dry, flattened and secured.

Use the Thursday metal and electronic waste round

A Hoboken household with a refrigerator, washer, dryer, stove, air conditioner, televisions, computer or cell phone to dispose of.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Hoboken households on the city collection route. The city lists these items in the Thursday stream without a per item charge and points to a New Jersey Clean Energy Program rebate that may pay for recycling an old appliance.
Arrange it
Put the item out after 7:30 p.m., or after 9 p.m. in the Limited Business Area, on Thursday night and leave it for the Friday morning pickup before noon by the metal and electronics crew.

The metal crew only takes metal furniture and appliances, so a small non metal appliance such as a coffee maker or blender goes with the regular garbage, and every battery has to stay out of the recycling bins.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Hoboken is a curbside city, so self haul is rarely the answer. Almost everything a household wants gone goes out with one of the city's own collection nights: mattresses and non metal furniture with the garbage on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday nights, and metal furniture, appliances, yard waste, electronic waste, paper and cardboard on Thursday night for a Friday morning pickup. Everything goes to the curb after 7:30 p.m., or after 9 p.m. in the Limited Business Area, in a lidded container, with garbage under 50 pounds and the doors removed from any refrigerator, washer, dryer or oven. Recycling goes out in two separate streams, commingled plastic, glass, cartons and metal on Monday night with only plastics numbered 1, 2 and 5, and paper and cardboard on Thursday night. The two exceptions are construction debris, which the city does not collect at all and which has to be hauled privately, and household hazardous waste such as non latex paint, varnish, turpentine and pesticides, which waits for one of the Hudson County Improvement Authority drop-off days booked on 201-324-6222 extension 3219. A latex paint can that is empty or dried out can still go with the garbage, a can more than half full can be brought to the Hoboken Recycling Center at 1501 Madison Street, and the same counter hands out free blue bins and free paper yard waste bags to residents with proof of address. A few things
worth knowing.

How much does TV removal cost in Hoboken?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Hoboken?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Hoboken?

To the curb on Thursday night. The city collects computers, televisions, monitors and cell phones as electronic waste on Thursday for the Friday morning round, and lithium ion batteries go out with them. Small non metal appliances such as vacuums, coffee makers, blenders and food processors are separated out and go with the regular garbage, and alkaline batteries also go with garbage.Official guidance

What happens to batteries in Hoboken?

They never go in recycling, and the city states that plainly. Alkaline batteries can be put out with the regular garbage, lithium ion batteries go out with the electronic waste on Thursday night, and compact fluorescent bulbs should be taken to a home improvement retailer while incandescent bulbs and lighting fixtures go with the garbage.Official guidance
