Choose twin, full, queen or king / California king for your box spring or non-powered foundation. You can book it on its own, even if the mattress is staying.
Check a split foundation before counting
Two separate sections can support one bed. If yours is split, send a photo before booking so we can confirm which size and quantity to select. Don’t assume one mattress always means one support unit.
Powered bases and thin boards have their own choices
A base that raises or lowers the bed is an adjustable base. A thin rigid bunkie board is also a separate item. Use All beds & mattresses to find those instead of choosing a box spring.

Arrange help to move the foundation outside. Check your building’s rules and the preparation instructions in your confirmation. Contact us before booking about wrapping, condition or difficult access.

Make your pickup easy to identify.
Use the permitted outdoor spot in your pickup plan and keep entrances and walking routes open. Add a location photo and clear notes so the booked foundation is easy to find.

For pieces too large for a bin or bag, set bulk items out between 6pm and midnight before the correct collection day. Keep them out of the street and clear of pedestrian traffic or neighboring frontage. DSNY will not collect from private property.

How much does box spring removal cost?+
A queen box spring is $79 as the first item and $22 as an additional item. Choose the size to see its current price. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any mattress or frame separately, then review the total and any applicable tax before payment.
Can you take just the box spring and leave the mattress?+
Yes. Book the box spring size on its own. Your mattress and frame do not need to be removed. Have only the booked items ready outside, with a photo and location notes to make the pickup clear.
Is a mattress foundation the same pickup option as a box spring?+
Use the box spring or foundation choice for the non-powered support underneath a mattress, then choose the size. A powered adjustable base and a thin rigid bunkie board have their own catalog options. Send a photo if you are unsure which one you have.
How do I book a split king or two-piece box spring?+
Send a photo of both sections before booking so we can confirm the size and quantity. The catalog offers twin, full, queen and king / California king, but a split foundation needs its actual configuration checked. We do not automatically treat two physical sections as one item.
Can you remove the box spring from my bedroom?+
Dropcurb picks up from outside. You arrange to get the box spring out of your bedroom and through any interior stairs or elevator before pickup. We handle loading and transportation from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s staging rules first.
Can I book same-day box spring pickup?+
Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, using the dates offered at checkout. Have the box spring outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive an on-the-way text and photos after collection.
How should I bag a mattress or box spring for city collection?+
Seal each mattress and box spring in its own plastic bag before placing it out for DSNY. Use a bag that is not red or orange; the city does not provide one. Does NYC charge for residential bulk collection?+
NYC offers eligible residential bulk-item collection at no charge. The item must qualify and follow the address’s collection and preparation rules. Commercial waste, contractor debris and covered electronics do not belong on the ordinary residential bulk route.Official guidance
Is there a public dump in Brooklyn for bulky items?+
