When & how

Remove the doors from refrigerators and other appliances with latches, tie loose wood, trees, bushes and hedges in bundles no longer than four feet, no thicker than 18 inches and no heavier than 60 pounds, and remove nails from discarded lumber or bend them over so no point is exposed. The city does not collect radioactive, volatile, highly flammable, explosive, biomedical, infectious, toxic or hazardous material, and it does not collect waste generated by a contractor.

The city describes payment at the time the collection agreement is signed but publishes no amount, so confirm the charge with the Commercial Refuse Business Office at 428-6928, which also explains the other options available to property owners.
Arrange it
Contact the Commercial Refuse Business Office, describe what needs to be collected, meet the representative on site to sign a collection agreement, pay at that time, and the collection is scheduled for the next business day.
The service is a paid extra collection rather than part of the weekly route, payment is made at the agreement stage, and the same prohibited waste rules apply to what can be collected.
Rochester households can self haul to the Monroe County ecopark at 10 Avion Drive, open Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and closed on holidays. The site is for Monroe County residents only, an appointment is required only for household hazardous waste, and the recycling stations are self-serve apart from that stream.
