Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste no longer uses a public collection event: the county takes it by appointment at two dedicated sites, because South Carolina bans the material from landfills.

City cost & eligibility
The county publishes no fee for the appointment based electronic drop-off on the retained pages, so confirm whether a charge applies when the appointment is booked. The drop-off is residential only and the appointment is required, with the material refused at the other convenience centers.
When & how
By appointment at 106 Shanklin Road in Beaufort or 9 Benton Field Road in Bluffton, on the day the appointment is set for.
Get it ready
Delete personal information, files and storage from the device before the drop-off, because the county asks the resident to do that. The county takes personal computers, laptops, CRT and LCD monitors, CRT and non CRT televisions, printers, hard drives and miscellaneous electronics such as cell phones and fax machines, while household items such as microwaves, vacuums, stereos, speakers, VCRs, lamps, keyboards and cords belong at a convenience center instead and will not be accepted at the electronic drop-off.

Electronics have their own door

Screens and other electronic devices are banned from South Carolina landfills and are no longer collected at a public event, so they go by appointment to 106 Shanklin Road in Beaufort or 9 Benton Field Road in Bluffton. Small household electronics such as microwaves, vacuums, stereos and lamps belong at a convenience center instead, and the resident deletes personal data before any device leaves the house.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Beaufort splits the job between a city contract and a county center system. At a city address, one contracted hauler takes trash, yard debris and recycling, recycling runs every other week on the same day as the other pickups, and the household pays for the program monthly through its water bill. Everything that route refuses goes to the county. A county property owner applies for a solid waste pass, which allows three visits a week and opens the gate at nine convenience centers that run from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and close every Wednesday and on county holidays. Four of those centers, including Shanklin at 80 Shanklin Road in Beaufort, take the large loads: appliances and scrap metal with the doors removed, tires, and bulky items such as dressers, mattresses, sofas and tables. Every center takes the big five recyclables, bagged household garbage, yard waste in small amounts, construction and demolition debris, household hazardous waste in the shed, used oil and batteries, while ammunition, fireworks, medical waste, smoke detectors and commercial material are refused everywhere. Electronics are the exception to the whole system: they are banned from South Carolina landfills and go by appointment to 106 Shanklin Road in Beaufort or 9 Benton Field Road in Bluffton. Anything larger than a center will take is directed to the Oakwood Landfill in Ridgeland, and a renter in a commercially owned building has to ask the property to arrange disposal instead of using the pass. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Beaufort.

How much does TV removal cost in Beaufort?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Beaufort?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go?

To the county's appointment based electronic drop-off at 106 Shanklin Road in Beaufort or 9 Benton Field Road in Bluffton, because South Carolina bans that material from landfills and the county no longer runs a public collection event. Delete your data first, book the appointment, and take small household electronics such as microwaves and vacuums to a convenience center instead.Official guidance

Who runs trash pickup in Beaufort?

Inside the city limits the City contracts one hauler for trash, yard debris and recycling, and the City's Public Works department handles the program. The county does not provide curbside pickup at all, so a city address deals with the City or its hauler and a county center is the drop-off route instead.Official guidance

How is curbside service billed?

A city household pays for solid waste monthly through its water bill to take part in the program, and the first recycling bin comes from the City at no cost when you call for it. The amount is not published on the pages reviewed here, so confirm it with the City when the account is set up.Official guidance

How do I get into a convenience center?

An active solid waste pass is required, and the pass is issued only to a Beaufort County property owner with a livable dwelling unit on the property. You receive a sticker and, if you give an email address, a digital barcode for other vehicles at the address, and the pass allows three visits a week with the week running Sunday through Saturday.Official guidance

Where does paint and household chemical waste go?

To the household hazardous waste shed at a convenience center, which takes oil and gas mixtures, cleaning products, fire extinguishers, fluorescent bulbs, hobby chemicals, lawn treatments, stains, varnishes, paint, rust inhibitors, turpentine, thinners and photographic or pool cleaners, along with anything labelled with a warning, danger or caution word. Only the listed items are taken, and empty containers belong in the trash.Official guidance

Where do I take a load that is too big for a center?

To the Oakwood Landfill in Ridgeland, which the county names for larger construction and demolition amounts and larger yard waste quantities. The two county pages print different street numbers for the landfill, so confirm the address, the accepted material and the fee before you load.Official guidance
