Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Text us about your setup
  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions, computers and microwaves

Not on the regular city route

The City of Charleston does not collect electronics. The city's FAQ lists computers, televisions and microwaves under e-waste and states plainly that the city does not collect it, and electronics also appear on the unacceptable list for commercial and multifamily service.

City cost & eligibility
The City of Charleston does not collect electronics as e-waste, so there is no city charge for one. A Charleston County convenience center takes household computers, monitors, printers and televisions from residents, and the county publishes no per-item charge for that staffed drop-off.
When & how
Not on the city route at all. Charleston County convenience centers take household computers, monitors, printers and televisions from residents during staffed hours.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage cart, out of the bulk pile and out of a yard waste pile, and erase personal data before handover. At a convenience center the accepted electronics are household computers, monitors, printers and televisions only, and the site attendant decides on anything else.

What stays off the Charleston curb

Hazardous waste including paint, auto fluids, batteries and pool chemicals, along with concrete, dirt, sod, sand, plaster, carpet, construction and renovation debris, tires and hot ashes, are not single-family curbside waste. Electronics are refused separately, and paint cans are taken only when the paint is completely dry in the can, so those loads go to a Charleston County convenience center instead.

Take the load to a county convenience center

A household with electronics, appliances, tires, paint, batteries, furniture, a mattress or construction debris that the city route will not take.

Cost & conditions
The county lists what residents may bring to a staffed convenience center but publishes no per-item charge for the drop-off, while the Bees Ferry Landfill scale charges $100 per ton for municipal solid waste and $150 per ton for tires, so confirm the current position on 843-720-7111.
Arrange it
Take the separated load to a staffed Charleston County convenience center during its hours, with rims removed from tires and tanks emptied and left with staff, and check in at the site.

Charleston County residents only, a maximum of four tires with rims removed and no commercial tires, electronics limited to household computers, monitors, printers and televisions, Signal Point Road takes no household garbage, yard waste, construction debris, scrap metal, appliances or propane tanks, and the construction zone refuses bricks, cement, shingles and stucco.

Charleston County convenience centers

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Most self-haul loads from Charleston go to a Charleston County convenience center, where staffed sites take, from county residents, household garbage, recyclables, household computers, monitors, printers and televisions, paint, batteries, light bulbs, motor oil and cooking oil, scrap metal and appliances such as refrigerators, up to four tires with rims removed, construction and demolition debris with furniture, carpet, mattresses, sheetrock and wood under four feet, and household hazardous material, with used gasoline only at the Bees Ferry center. The county's own zone rules refuse bricks, cement, stucco, shingles, tires inside the construction zone, boats, cars and hazardous waste there, and the Signal Point Road site is not full service. Behind the centers is the Bees Ferry Road Landfill at the same address, where the scale charges municipal solid waste by the ton and tires by the ton and refuses construction and demolition waste from private or commercial haulers, and yard waste goes to the compost facility next door. The city route stays the cheaper option for a couch, a mattress, a refrigerator or a pile of household junk, because those ride the regular trash collection day. Televisions are accepted in the electronics zone, which the county limits to household computers, monitors, printers and TVs.

Charleston County residents only, household electronics only, and the site attendant decides on anything outside the computers, monitors, printers and televisions group. Erase personal data before the trip.

Monday to Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. as published in the county listing, which also prints a Sunday line and a closed Sunday note that contradict each other, so confirm the weekend position on 843-720-7111 before a trip.

No charge. The county publishes no per-item charge for a resident dropping household electronics at a staffed convenience center.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Charleston.

How much does TV removal cost in Charleston?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Charleston?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Will Charleston pick up a television at the curb?

No. The city states that it does not collect electronics as e-waste, and that covers computers, televisions and microwaves. The route is a Charleston County convenience center, where staff accept household computers, monitors, printers and televisions from residents during staffed hours and anything else has to be checked with the attendant.Official guidance

Who collects garbage and trash in Charleston?

The City of Charleston Environmental Services Division runs curbside garbage once a week, trash and yard waste once a week on a separate pile, and the bulk and white goods stream on the regularly scheduled trash collection day. The county does not collect garbage at all: it runs the landfill, the convenience centers and the hazardous waste programme. City service questions go to Citizen Services at 843-724-7311, and bulk scheduling questions go to 724-7364.Official guidance

What will Charleston not take at the curb?

Hazardous waste such as paint, auto fluids, batteries and pool chemicals, along with concrete, dirt, sod, sand, plaster, carpet, construction and renovation debris, tires and hot ashes, are not single-family curbside waste. Electronics are refused as well, and paint cans are accepted only when the paint is completely dry inside the can. Those items go to a staffed Charleston County convenience center instead.Official guidance
