Roll carts, recycling and yard waste go to the street no later than 7 a.m. on the designated collection day, and the cart is returned to the home once it is emptied.
Yard waste goes in a neat pile near the street, separate from household garbage and recycling, and electronic waste stays out of the recycling cart so the City can divert it.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
City customers can use the transfer station at 1220 2nd Avenue South between regular collection days for bagged garbage, recyclables, yard waste and electronics, and it is open every day of the week with shorter weekend hours. Large renovation loads, scrap metal and other prohibited material have to go to the Horry County Solid Waste Authority, whose convenience centers serve only residents of unincorporated areas of the county, or to a private hauler. Contractors are responsible for hauling their own waste directly to an approved landfill.
