Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Computers, electronics and batteries

Accepted with preparation

The county landfill keeps a recycle bin for computer towers, printers and laptops with their batteries removed and asks residents to call about any other electronic item, and the district points to the Best Buy and Staples take-back programs as another option. Batteries have their own routes, with Batteries Plus taking most household batteries free and the landfill taking vehicle batteries free.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. The district describes the electronics bin for computer towers, printers and laptops with the batteries removed, the free battery service at Batteries Plus in Washington, and the free lead acid vehicle battery drop at the landfill. No rate is published for the electronics bin, and the district asks residents to call about any item outside the published list, so confirm anything unusual with the district office on 435-673-2813.
When & how
Take the equipment to the Washington County Landfill during posted hours with the batteries removed, or use the Best Buy or Staples take-back programs the district names, and take batteries to the route that matches them.
Get it ready
Remove the batteries from a laptop before it goes in the electronics bin. Rechargeable batteries go to Batteries Plus in Washington with the terminals taped, and they must be under eleven pounds or three hundred watt hours, in sound condition and not a leaking, bulging or recalled unit, and the store will not take electric bike or scooter batteries. The district takes electric bike batteries and car batteries itself, scooter batteries once they are out of the scooter, and lead acid vehicle batteries free at the landfill when the scale house is told. Alkaline batteries go to the Republic Services facility on River Road.

Televisions and monitors

Special rules apply

The district's electronics bin covers computer towers, printers and laptops with the batteries removed and the district asks residents to call about anything else, so a television or monitor has to be confirmed rather than assumed.

City cost & eligibility
No television or monitor rule and no rate is published, so call the district office on 435-673-2813 and ask whether the set can go in the electronics bin or whether it has to go to the landfill as a bulky item on a scheduled pick-up with Republic Services on 435-773-4973.
When & how
Call before the set moves, then use whichever route the district confirms.
Get it ready
Keep the screen out of the regular garbage containers while the route is being confirmed, and keep any battery the set contains separate so it follows the battery routes rather than the electronics bin.

A St. George household self hauls to the Washington County Landfill at 330 N Landfill Rd in Washington, open Monday through Friday from 7 in the morning to 5:30 in the afternoon and Saturday from 7 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon, with no after hours service and a warning that Saturdays bring long waits. A residential load under one ton in a month is free and anything above that is charged the municipal solid waste rate, construction and demolition debris is priced separately per ton, and every load has to be tarped or tied down because an uncovered residential load is charged fifteen dollars for each occurrence while a commercial hauler pays a flat rate. The landfill recycles tires by size with a per visit limit for residents, takes lead acid vehicle batteries free, takes used motor oil, hydraulic fluid and transmission fluid, keeps a bin for computer towers, printers and laptops with the batteries removed, runs a free paint exchange for reusable latex paint, and hosts the district's two household hazardous waste days. Batteries that are not lead acid go to Batteries Plus in Washington, which takes all chemistries free within its size and condition limits, and alkaline batteries go to the Republic Services facility on River Road. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in St. George.

How much does TV removal cost in St. George?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in St. George?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do computers and electronics go in St. George?

The Washington County Landfill keeps a recycle bin for computer towers, printers and laptops with their batteries removed, and the district asks residents to call about any other electronic item. The district also points to the Best Buy and Staples take-back programs as another option. Remove the battery from a laptop first, and call the district office on 435-673-2813 about anything the bin does not cover.Official guidance

Where do batteries go in St. George?

The district encourages residents to take batteries to Batteries Plus in Washington, which takes all battery chemistries free, including small integrated batteries from cell phones and tablets. Those batteries must be under eleven pounds or three hundred watt hours and cannot be leaking, bulging or recalled, and the store will not take an electric bike or scooter battery or an e-cigarette battery with juice. The district takes electric bike batteries, scooter batteries that are out of the scooter, and car batteries, lead acid vehicle batteries are free at the landfill when the scale house is told, and alkaline batteries go to the Republic Services facility on River Road.Official guidance

Where do old televisions go in St. George?

Confirm the route first, because the district publishes no television rule. Its electronics bin takes computer towers, printers and laptops with the batteries removed and it asks residents to call about any other electronic item, so call the district office on 435-673-2813 and ask whether a television or monitor can go in the bin or whether it needs a bulky item pick-up scheduled with Republic Services on 435-773-4973.Official guidance

What does the district not take at the curb or in the free bulky pick-up?

The free bulky pick-up is limited to the published definition, so construction debris, tires and anything else outside it is not part of that route. Hazardous waste is never taken at the curb and only on the district's two collection days, water based and latex paint has to be dried out at home and put in the regular garbage once it is solid, tires are refused from businesses since February 1, 2025, and alkaline, rechargeable and vehicle batteries each have their own drop off rather than the garbage can.Official guidance
