You want to know it is handled.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Furniture, household items, limited appliances and building materials are accepted at the City's free Dumpster Days events, and residents with an active account can reserve a temporary dumpster.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. West Jordan residents and city employees who show proof of residency or employment at a Dumpster Days event. Dumpster reservations require an active West Jordan garbage utility account.
When & how
Dumpster Days ran May 16, August 1 and October 24 in 2026, each from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Public Works Maintenance yard at 7960 South 4000 West. Dumpsters can be reserved year round.
Get it ready
Bring a driver's license, utility bill or city ID badge for proof, keep green waste separate from other trash, and do not bag green waste because bags are not accepted.
Place garbage and recycling cans at the curb by 7 a.m. on your designated collection day. Containers are collected on all holidays except Independence Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day and New Year's Day, and a holiday that lands on a collection day delays the rest of that week by one day, including a Saturday pickup.
At Dumpster Days, unload green waste into the green waste dumpsters and keep it separate from other trash so the City can turn it into mulch. Do not bag green waste, because green waste bags are not accepted.
Every load taken to the Trans-Jordan Landfill or Transfer Station must be fully tarped and secured, or a double charge applies. The sites do not accept cash, so bring a credit or debit card or use an established account.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
