When & how
Take the load to the Sudbury Regional Landfill at 414 Landfill Road, open 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday from March 1 to October 31 and 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday from November 1 to February 28, with the pit area closing half an hour before closing time.
Get it ready
Secure the load, because an unsecured load is charged a fee, and keep restricted streams out of a general waste load: if restricted material is mixed with other refuse the highest applicable charge applies to the whole load and the landfill may refuse it. Present the physical utility bill with the sanitation charge when using the courtesy pass, keep children and pets in the vehicle, and note that scavenging is prohibited.
Exercise equipment is named nowhere on the city's pages and carries no rate line of its own, so a treadmill or weight machine is a confirmation rather than a promised tip fee.

When & how

Get it ready
Break the machine down as far as it comes apart so it can be handled and weighed, and keep loose weights and electronics separate. Remove and tape any battery, because batteries are taken free at the hazardous waste facility and are not wanted in a general waste load or the cart.
The container goes to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the collection day, three feet from cars, utility poles, other containers and any other obstacle, not under low hanging branches, utility lines or a basketball hoop, with the lid opening toward the street. Extra material on the ground beside the container is not collected, wedged items stop the container emptying, and an overfilled or too heavy container is charged an additional fee. Bag small loose material so it does not blow away.
