Will the city take it?
Sun Prairie separates paid large-item pickup from its permitted Recycle Center. A permit covers eligible recycling materials; it does not make furniture, cooling appliances or tires acceptable.
Eligible City cart-service residents receive designated yard-waste collections twice in spring and twice in fall. Yard material can also use the permitted center.

Permit sticker must be displayed on the windshield. No commercial businesses. Qualifying City cart-service homes obtain a free permit; residents of larger buildings and nonresidents need paid permits. Confirm current permit and unloading requirements. No trash, wood/plastic furniture, carpet, lumber, tires, refrigerant appliances, water softeners, stumps, root balls, masonry, fill material or propane cylinders.
After the last Saturday in March through the third Saturday in October: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Fall weekday closing becomes 5 p.m. Winter, after the first Saturday in December through the last Saturday in March: Monday 3-5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-noon. Closed City holidays.
A permit is free for qualifying City cart-service homes of one to four units, $30 per year for City residents in larger buildings, and $100 per year for nonresidents. Confirm eligibility before applying.

Can I book a pickup for today?+
Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Your booking is for a pickup day, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.
Do my items need to be outside when I book?+
You can book while your items are still inside. Arrange any indoor carrying and have everything outside and accessible according to your confirmation. We load and haul it away from there. Contact us before booking if your property has restricted access.
Does ordinary cart service include a couch or mattress pickup?+
Large items require separate paid arrangements. The Recycle Center excludes wood or plastic furniture, trash and carpet; confirm an accepting bulk receiver if self-hauling.Official guidance
