Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Special rules apply

Televisions are refused on the bulky item route and e-waste is not accepted in either curbside cart, so Conway sends all of it to the city landfill, where a nominal disposal fee can apply. The Faulkner County Solid Waste Management District also runs a free annual electronic waste drive each spring.

City cost & eligibility
The landfill charges a nominal fee for electronic waste and does not publish the amount, so confirm the current charge with the department at (501) 450-6155 before loading a vehicle. The county electronic waste drive is described as free to Faulkner County citizens, but its dates and location are announced each spring.
When & how
Take e-waste to the landfill at 4550 US-64 during open hours, Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or Saturday 8 a.m. to noon. Watch for the county electronic waste drive each spring for a free drop.
Get it ready
Keep televisions, computers and other e-waste out of both curbside carts and off the bulky item list, because televisions are named among the items the bulky route refuses. Clear personal data from a computer before handing it over, and bring the Conway Corp bill and matching identification to the landfill scale.

A bulky pickup is an appointment, not a garbage day

Conway takes bulky items only by appointment, and nothing may sit at the curb before the day prior to the scheduled collection. Put the booked items out within five feet of the curb by 7 a.m. on the appointment day, away from other carts, poles, mailboxes and vehicles, out of the roadway, and under at least 20 feet of clear space, because the collection depends on the load being reachable. One appointment covers three items, and an address may book two appointments in a calendar year.

The green cart is bagged garbage only

Household garbage goes out in the city's 96-gallon green cart with the lid closed, positioned with the opening toward the street and the handle toward the house, within two feet of the curb and at least three feet from other carts, poles, mailboxes and vehicles. Carts are out by 7 a.m. on the collection day, which runs Tuesday through Friday depending on the address, and anything left outside the cart is not collected. Appliances, furniture, e-waste, tires, auto parts and batteries are all excluded from this cart.

What must stay out of both carts

Yard waste is banned from the green and blue carts and collected separately on the garbage day, and plastic bags of any kind will stop the yard waste collection. Glass never goes in the blue cart and instead goes in a small glass bin collected on the garbage day. Motor oil, liquid paint, liquid glue, auto batteries, auto parts, medical waste, tires and construction material such as carpet, padding, wood and drywall are not permitted in curbside garbage, and liquids are not accepted at the landfill unless they have been dried and solidified first.

City of Conway Department of Sanitation

Take the load to the city landfill

A Conway household with its own vehicle, including one that would rather drop extra bagged garbage, an appliance or electronic waste than wait for an appointment.

Cost & conditions
General household garbage is accepted at no additional charge to a Conway resident account holder, while specialty items such as appliances and electronic waste carry a nominal fee that is not published. Non-resident Faulkner County loads pay additional charges, and city businesses pay a base rate of 30 dollars plus tax for weights up to 1,999 pounds with proration above that. Confirm the charge for the specific load at the scale.
Arrange it
Drive to 4550 US-64 during open hours. Residents show a printed or app copy of the Conway Corp bill with a matching government-issued ID at the scale, and payment can be cash, check, Visa or MasterCard.

Liquids are not accepted, including small amounts unless they have been dried and solidified first, and commercial waste haulers are accepted Monday through Friday only.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Conway's self-haul route is the city landfill at 4550 US-64, on the west side of town past Hogan Lane. It is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, and it closes on Sunday. General household garbage is accepted at no additional charge for a resident account holder, which makes it the place for extra bags that will not fit in the green cart, while electronic waste, appliances and other specialty items carry a nominal fee and non-resident Faulkner County loads pay more. Take a printed or app copy of the Conway Corp bill and a matching government-issued ID, because the scale verifies addresses, and leave liquid waste at home unless it has been dried and solidified first. Fluorescent bulbs and passenger tires have their own monthly allowances at the same site: four bulbs and four tires off the rim per month for a residential account holder. Yard waste and construction material do not go to the curb in a cart, and multi-family residents who do not have a green cart can bring recyclables to the city facility at no charge. City landfill for garbage, appliances, electronic waste, tires and bulbs

City of Conway Department of Sanitation Landfill

4550 US-64, Conway, AR 72034

General household garbage, non-hazardous commercial and industrial waste under the Class 1 permit, electronic waste, appliances, up to four passenger tires off the rim per month for a residential account holder, and up to four fluorescent bulbs per month for a residential account holder.

Liquids are not accepted, so a small quantity of non-hazardous liquid has to be dried and solidified with kitty litter, sawdust or dirt before disposal. Residents show a printed or app copy of the Conway Corp bill with a matching government-issued ID at the scale, specialty items such as appliances and electronic waste carry a nominal fee, non-resident Faulkner County loads pay additional charges, and commercial waste haulers are accepted Monday through Friday only. The department page prints the address as Highway 64 West and the landfill page as US-64, so follow the department's directions rather than a postal assumption.

Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, closed Sunday.

General household garbage is accepted at no additional charge for a Conway resident account holder, and specialty items carry a nominal fee that the city does not publish. Confirm the charge for the exact load with the department at (501) 450-6155 before a trip.
