Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

El Dorado Hills has three self-haul routes and one request route. Electronics and household batteries go free to the El Dorado Hills Recycling Center at 4421 Latrobe Rd, Tuesday through Saturday, unless the television is larger than 60 inches, in which case it goes to the Materials Recovery Facility at 4100 Throwita Way, which is open every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Household hazardous waste also goes to that facility but only Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., free for county residents, with one trip carrying up to 15 gallons in five gallon or smaller containers or 125 pounds combined and the driver staying in the vehicle.
