Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronic waste

Accepted with preparation

The city includes certain electronic devices in the free bulky item collections, the hauler schedules electronic waste pickups through customer service, and the county household hazardous waste facilities take electronic waste free as well.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Electronic devices ride the four free bulky item collections each calendar year alongside up to five items per collection, and both listed county household hazardous waste facilities accept electronic waste free of charge from county residents.
When & how
Schedule an electronics pickup with Burrtec at (909) 889-1969, or use a county facility. The San Bernardino site at 2824 E W Street is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Redlands City Yard at 500 Kansas Street takes electronic waste on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers, phones and tablets before they leave the house, keep devices out of the carts because the hauler lists electronic waste as illegal in the barrels, and keep each load inside the county transport limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than five gallons.

Book the bulky pickup ahead and keep it separate

Keep hazardous loads inside the transport limit

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Highland residents self haul two ways. Electronics, paint, oil, cleaners, pesticides, batteries and sharps go to a San Bernardino County household hazardous waste facility free of charge, either the San Bernardino site at 2824 E W Street on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or the Redlands City Yard at 500 Kansas Street on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with loads kept at or under 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than five gallons. Project material is different: the carts take household trash, recycling and organics only, so a renovation load needs a container rented from Burrtec, which offers dumpsters from three yards to 40 yards and lists construction and demolition boxes charged with disposal. Bulky household items do not need a trip at all, because four free curbside collections a year cover furniture, mattresses, appliances and electronic devices when they are scheduled with Burrtec at (909) 889-1969.
