Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Not on the regular city route

Throwing electronics in the trash is illegal in Colorado, so a television, computer, monitor or phone goes to a recycler instead. The Larimer County Landfill recycles electronics by weight, and the City's Timberline Recycling Center takes them for a per-item fee on top of its entry fee.

City cost & eligibility
From $0.65 per pound for laptops, central processing units and tablets at the Larimer County Landfill electronics recycling area, with a higher published per-pound rate for other residential electronics. Residential electronics brought to the Larimer County Landfill; the Timberline Recycling Center charges a per-item fee for each device instead, added to its entry fee.
When & how
Electronics recycling at the landfill runs Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Timberline Recycling Center takes hard-to-recycle material during the center's posted hours, so confirm the current hours before loading a vehicle.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data and keep devices whole. Treat anything with a circuit board as electronic waste rather than scrap metal, because the City drops those items into the electronic waste stream with fees attached.

Hazardous waste arrives boxed and upright, with no container over five gallons

The household hazardous waste facility takes up to thirty gallons per vehicle, measured by the size of the containers rather than how full they are, which is roughly four medium moving boxes. No single container may be larger than five gallons, up to ten fluorescent bulbs are taken per visit, and material has to arrive in non-leaking labeled containers, packaged upright in boxes rather than trash bags or trash cans.

The hazardous waste facility is closed to the public every Wednesday

Household hazardous waste is accepted Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and the facility is closed to the public on Wednesday, when the site is reserved for business waste by appointment. Household material from Larimer County residents is free, and waste from another county has to go to that county's own program.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

The Larimer County Landfill at 5887 South Taft Hill Road takes self-haul loads Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., charging a flat fee for a car, SUV or passenger van load, a higher flat fee for a pickup or cargo van, and a per-cubic-yard rate with a two cubic yard minimum for trailers and rental trucks. Can I get same-day TV pickup in Fort Collins?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
