One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are accepted at the transfer station, where the city lists all e-waste among the items that are never collected in the curbside cart. The route is the same as for other oversized material: the ticket comes from the Public Works office and the load goes to River Road.

City cost & eligibility
From $30 for for a dump ticket covering a minivan or a pickup with a bed up to six feet, with larger vehicles and trailers priced higher on the published ticket list. Shelton residents with proof of residency, delivering the devices to the transfer station rather than setting them out in a cart.
When & how
Buy the ticket at 41 Myrtle Street and deliver the devices to 866 River Road between 7 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the trash and recycling carts because the city lists them as oversized items for the station, wipe personal data before handover, and keep batteries with the station load rather than in a cart.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Proof of residency and a prepaid ticket come before the load

The transfer station at 866 River Road asks for proof of residency, which can be a valid Connecticut driver's licence, a current Shelton tax bill with a matching photo ID or a current utility bill with a matching photo ID. No waste generated outside Shelton is accepted, every vehicle is unloaded by hand, and scavenging is not allowed. The dump ticket is bought in advance at the Shelton Public Works and Highway Department, 41 Myrtle Street, open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and it is paid for by cash or check, with the price set by the vehicle and the size of the load.

What the station takes and what it will not

The accepted list covers air conditioners, appliances with refrigerator and freezer doors removed, auto and lead acid batteries, Christmas trees without lights or ornaments, flattened cardboard, dehumidifiers, electronics, furniture, gas grills, dried latex paint which may also go in the trash cart, lawn mowers, dry mattresses, metal and small appliances, play sets, propane gas tanks, tires off the rim up to four per residence a year, toys, brush and branches no longer than four feet and no more than 20 inches in diameter, and yard furniture, with free mulch for a resident who loads their own vehicle. Asphalt roofing material is not accepted, and hazardous waste items are saved for the collection day.

The automated carts have their own rules

Shelton collects only in the approved carts: the brown cart for trash, collected weekly, and the blue cart for single stream recycling, collected every other week, with the cart set out the night before, the arrow facing the street and the handle toward the house. Trash has to be in plastic bags and no plastic bags may go in the recycling cart, and an overloaded cart may not be collected at all. Paint, solvents, gasoline, soil, acids, oil, hot ashes, medical waste, exposed needles, sand and rocks are barred from the carts, with one exception the city prints: latex paint is non hazardous and may go in the trash cart once it is completely dried. Missed collections go to Interstate Waste Services at 203-929-5488 and cart problems to Public Works at 203-924-9277.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Shelton.

How much does electronics pickup cost in Shelton?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in Shelton?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

Where do televisions and computers go in Shelton?
