No charge. Trumbull households, within the single annual Large Item Pickup appointment.
When & how
Mattresses go out on your scheduled Large Item Pickup date, which runs Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays during the program window.
Get it ready
Set the mattress at the curb in an orderly fashion by 6:30 a.m. on the appointment date, and keep it out of bags or boxes because the Town does not pick those up.
For the Large Item Pickup Program, have all disposal items placed at the curb in an orderly fashion by 6:30 a.m. on the appointment date and easily accessible to Town equipment and personnel. Keep piles away from low electrical wires and low hanging branches, and note that if a pile is disorganized or inaccessible the Town may bypass it and the household forfeits that year's pickup.
The Town does not take anything packed in bags or boxes for the Large Item Pickup Program, even small items. Bags and boxes are on the refused list, so set material out loose and in an orderly pile.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

No charge. Trumbull households, one appointment per household each year, with no additional charge for the service.
Arrange it
Schedule through the Town's Large Item Pickup Appointment Reservation System or by calling the Department of Public Works at 203-452-5070 or 203-452-5071. Pickups run Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays on a first-come-first-served basis, and each household may reschedule once if the request is made at least one day before the original date.
One pickup per household each year. Bags and boxes are not collected, and neither are household trash, hazardous materials, recyclables, demolition materials, vehicles or auto parts, tires, propane tanks, explosives, dead animals, trash cans, or wood and metal over four feet long or greater than six inches in diameter. All 2026 appointments were booked out by September 1.
Trumbull, Monroe and Easton residents with demolition material, extra household waste, metals or materials the pickup program refuses.
Cost & conditions
From $12 for published demolition material charge per 125 pounds, with credit and debit cards the only accepted payment method. Trumbull residents with a driver's license. Monroe residents pay by credit or debit card at the station, and Easton residents must purchase tickets at Easton Town Hall before arriving.
Arrange it
Bring loads to 101 Spring Hill Road during open hours. No tickets are required for recyclables, scrap metal, electronics, household batteries, residential motor oil, residential cooking oil or antifreeze.
Paint and paint cans, liquids, propane tanks, rocks, dirt and sand, lumber or wood longer than four feet, plastic bags, railroad ties or creosote logs, and stumps are not accepted. The station does not accept organic composting material such as yard waste or brush from Monroe or Easton residents.
Trumbull residents haul their own material to the TEaM Transfer Station at 101 Spring Hill Road, a shared facility for Trumbull, Monroe and Easton. Bring a driver's license, since Trumbull residency is checked, and note that the station takes credit and debit cards only for demolition loads, which are charged by weight in 125 pound steps. No tickets are required for recyclables, scrap metal, electronics, household batteries, residential motor oil or cooking oil and antifreeze. You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Can a mattress go out with the large item pickup?+
