  1. Check what your delivery includes.

If a new mattress is arriving, check whether your retailer is taking the old one. If you need Dropcurb, choose a day when you can have it outside. A delivery window and a pickup day are different arrangements.

  2. Arrange the trip outside.

Plan for doorways, elevators and interior stairs before pickup day. You arrange any indoor carrying. Use a permitted outdoor location and keep entrances and the walking path open.

  3. Make the right mattress easy to find.

Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. Add a location photo and clear access notes so your hauler can identify exactly what is going.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Mattress removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in West Haven.

How much does mattress removal cost in West Haven?

The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I book same-day mattress pickup in West Haven?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.

Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?

The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.

Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed. Dropcurb books a pickup day, not the retailer’s delivery window. Contact us before booking if access is limited to a short time.

How do I get rid of a mattress in West Haven?

Buy a mattress or box spring bag from the Department of Public Works, in cash at the third floor office in City Hall at 355 Main Street, and put it out on the day Public Works schedules when you buy the bag. The first bag has a published price and each additional bag costs less.Official guidance

Can I drop a mattress off instead?

Yes, for a fee at the New Haven Transfer Station at 260 Middletown Avenue or at Milford Waste Conversion Technologies at 221 Old Gate Lane. The City does not publish those fees and asks residents to call the sites.Official guidance

Who collects rubbish and recycling in West Haven?

The City contracts collection to Affordable Waste Systems LLC of East Haven, which can be called at 203-466-0101 about a broken or damaged can. Public Works is on the third floor of City Hall at 355 Main Street and answers at 203-937-3585.Official guidance

Where do paint, chemicals and batteries go?

HazWaste Central at 90 Sargent Drive in New Haven takes household hazardous waste, oil based paint, batteries and propane tanks free on Saturday mornings from mid May through October. Latex paint is the exception, because the City asks residents to dry it out with cat box filler and put it in the regular trash.Official guidance

Where do old tires go?

Tires are refused as bulk trash and are taken at Town Fair Tire, 63 Boston Post Road in Orange, for a published fee per tire.Official guidance

When are Christmas trees collected?

In January and February only, with lights removed and no plastic bags or stands, because the bags and decorations tangle the grinding machine. A pickup after February 15 carries a published fee, and residents can also take trees to the compost site at 1 Kimberly Avenue until January 15.Official guidance
