City of New Smyrna Beach Solid Waste Services

City curbside collection

Households with furniture, mattresses, appliances, small project material or yard waste that fits the published limits.

Cost & conditions
No charge. City solid waste customers. Freon appliances need a special pickup, oversized yard waste needs fees paid before collection, and larger construction volumes are quoted separately.
Arrange it
Put the material out for the scheduled collection day, and call the Solid Waste Compliance Officer when an item needs a special pickup.

Collection is changing haulers on October 1, 2026, so the weekly schedule and cart rules change on that date and the current hauler handles pickups only until then.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

The City does not operate a public drop-off for bulky items, yard waste, construction debris or scrap metal, so those materials go out on the collection routes or through a special pickup, and large renovation volumes move to an approved commercial roll-off vendor. Two county routes sit outside the city program: the Tomoka Landfill in Port Orange takes household hazardous waste and a limited number of tires each year, and the City points paint and chemical questions to the county landfill and its paint exchange. Volusia County pages could not be opened from this environment, so confirm the county hours, fees and accepted material directly before loading.
