Where can you donate broken electronics?

Participating Dell Reconnect Goodwill sites accept listed computer equipment of any brand and condition for recycling. Goodwill Northern New England also lists computers, printers and accessories in any condition. Confirm the exact device before drop-off, handle personal data first and ask a specialist about damaged batteries; recycling acceptance does not mean a charity will reuse it.

Choose reuse or recycling

If the device still has realistic reuse value, ask the receiving charity or repair program whether it accepts that exact item and condition. Dell Reconnect accepts listed computer equipment of any brand and condition at participating Goodwill sites, but that does not mean every Goodwill accepts every household electronic item.

For broken computers, printers and accessories, use a listed recycling route and confirm the current item rules before traveling. Retail programs can exclude recalled or unsafe products, and their accepted lists differ by item and location.

Prepare the electronics

Erase personal data if you can, and tell the receiver that the item is broken. Keep devices with damaged batteries out of ordinary electronics drop-offs and ask the manufacturer or a qualified recycler for handling instructions. Do not pry out a built-in battery. If you are considering Best Buy, confirm the current store terms for the exact device before going; its program has item-specific limits and exclusions.

For a computer, use the computer-wiping checklist before handing it over.
