The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Screens and electronics go to the DPW Drop-Off Center. Anything with a screen carries a published per-item fee, while computers and electronics without a screen are accepted at no charge.
City cost & eligibility
The drop-off center publishes one fee for televisions, monitors and laptops regardless of size and screen type, accepts computers without monitors at no charge, and the seasonal curbside bulk schedule prices televisions higher by size. Confirm the fee for the exact item before you register.
When & how
Pre-register online, prepay any fee, and drop the item during drop-off center hours. The city also lists a private electronics recycler in Agawam for material the center will not take.
Get it ready
Keep screens intact for transport. Rechargeable batteries and fluorescent bulbs are accepted separately as universal waste.
The City prices bulky pickup from a published item list rather than by volume, so an item that is not on the list has to be confirmed with the Department of Public Works.

The curbside bulk schedule lists specific eligible items with individual prices, and unlisted items such as exercise equipment are not addressed. Call the Department of Public Works to confirm whether the item can be collected and what it costs.

Curbside bulk pickup opens by appointment through the bulk permit portal and closes for the season. When the portal shows the service is closed, wait for the reopening date instead of setting the item at the curb.

Residents with a mattress, box spring, whole tires, a television or monitor, scrap metal, yard waste or an appliance that is not a cooling unit.

No construction debris and no household trash are accepted, cooling appliances are refused as scrap metal, and mattresses must not be soaked, moldy or infested.
Renovation and cleanout material that neither city program will take, including construction and demolition debris.
Cost & conditions
The City lists private locations in Springfield, West Springfield and Agawam for construction debris, trash and bulky items and states that fees apply. Each operator sets its own prices.

Online pre-registration is required and the fee must be prepaid before the visit. Bring screens intact; anything with a screen carries the fee even when it is an otherwise free computer component.
Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, closed Mondays. Confirm holiday hours before traveling.

The Department of Public Works holds household hazardous waste drop-off days with pre-registration required and a limit of 25 liquid gallons or 25 solid pounds per household.
