Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Twice weekly trash, weekly recycling and carts

Accepted with preparation

One monthly residential rate covers trash twice a week, recycling every Wednesday, green waste and bulky waste, with the city rate reduced for residents 65 and over.

City cost & eligibility
From $18.64 per month for residential garbage service under the current city rate schedule, with the reduced residential rate for customers 65 and over and no increase to the water, subsidence or wastewater rate. A Rosenberg residential solid waste account served by GFL Environmental, which includes trash twice a week, weekly recycling, and green and bulky waste on the first pickup day of the week.
When & how
Trash is collected on Monday and Thursday or on Tuesday and Friday, recycling every Wednesday, and green and bulky waste on the first pickup day of the week, either Monday or Tuesday. Find the service days by address on the city map.
Get it ready
Place the cart at the curb with the wheels facing the house and the lid opening toward the street, keep carts four feet apart and four feet from mailboxes, cars and posts, put nothing in the right of way before noon the day before collection, have the cart out by 7 a.m. on the collection day, and remove the empty cart by 8 a.m. the following morning. Only the listed recyclables go in the recycling cart, loose and with no bags.

Televisions, monitors and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics never go in the recycling cart and are taken to the Fort Bend County Recycle Center, which prices televisions and monitors by screen size.

City cost & eligibility
From $10 per television or computer monitor under 20 inches at the Fort Bend County Recycle Center, with screens from 20 to 32 inches at 15 dollars each, screens over 32 inches at 30 dollars each, small electronics under five pounds at 1 dollar each and larger electronics at 5 dollars each. A residential user of the Fort Bend County Recycle Center at 1200 Blume Road in Rosenberg. Business, commercial and agricultural waste is not accepted there, and fees are paid by cash, check or credit card with no debit cards.
When & how
Take the device to the Fort Bend County Recycle Center at 1200 Blume Road on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday through Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The center is closed on Wednesdays and on holidays.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of both carts because the recycling flyer refuses them at the sorting center, erase personal data before the device leaves the house, and check the screen size before the trip because the charge steps up at 20 inches and again at 32 inches.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The right of way window is set by ordinance

Nothing goes into the street right of way before noon the day before collection, carts have to be out no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day, and the emptied cart has to be off the right of way by 8 a.m. the following morning. Carts go at the curb with the wheels facing the house and the lid opening toward the street, four feet apart and four feet clear of mailboxes, cars and posts, and they stay at the curb until the end of the collection day because the arrival time can change.

Green and bulky waste share the first pickup day

Green waste and bulky waste are both collected on the first pickup day of the week, either Monday or Tuesday depending on the address, while the second trash day is for the cart only. The city publishes an address map so a household can confirm which route it is on before setting a pile out.

What never goes in a Rosenberg cart

The recycling cart takes plastics 1, 2 and 5, glass bottles and jars, metal cans and clean paper including cardboard and cartons, loose and with no bags. It does not take batteries, electronics, tires, scrap metal or wood, styrofoam, plastic bags and wrap, shredded paper, tanglers such as cords and hoses, food soiled items, ceramics, diapers, cups, hazardous waste or medical waste, and plastic bags go back to the grocery store. The county center takes several of those items, including electronics, tires, scrap metal, batteries and hazardous waste, and it refuses mattresses, furniture and plain trash.
