Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Televisions and electronics

Special rules apply

Electronics are not named on the city pages, so the route comes from the county list or the city contact.

City cost & eligibility
Federal Way names no television or computer route and publishes no electronics fee or drop-off, so call the city on 253-835-2770 or check the King County hazardous waste list the city links before setting an electronic item out.
When & how
Confirm the route first, then use the county or retail option the city names.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the curbside carts and out of the event loads, since the event accepts appliances, mattresses, styrofoam, soft plastics, clean wood and metal rather than electronics, and delete personal data before handover.
City free drive thru recycling event page with the apartment residency scope, the date, hours and location, the voucher requirement, the accepted appliance, mattress, styrofoam, soft plastic, clean wood and metal lists and the refusal of refrigerants and hazardous wasteCity household hazardous waste page with the prohibition on putting oil based paint, batteries and bulbs in the garbage or down drains, the referral to King County for the full accepted list and the Auburn Outlet Collection Wastemobile location, weekend hours and free funding basis

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The free city drop-offs

Batteries go to any of nine free locations around the city, including City Hall, the Community Center and the South King Tool Library, or to Call2Recycle retail sites. Styrofoam and plastic film go in the City Hall lobby, taking styrofoam blocks, bagged packing peanuts, grocery bags, film and packaging material. Used cooking oil goes into the black container at French Lake Dog Park, and oily jugs go home or in the trash rather than into the container.

For your Dropcurb pickup

Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Free battery drop-off locations

A household with used batteries that must not go in the trash.

Cost & conditions
No charge. The city lists the locations as free drop-off points for residents, with additional retail options through Call2Recycle and many hardware and electronics stores.
Arrange it
Take the batteries to any of the listed locations, including Federal Way City Hall, the Community Center, Dumas Bay Centre, El Centro de la Raza, the South King Tool Library, the Multiservice Center, Northshore Ace Hardware, Marlene's Market or Poverty Bay Cafe, during that site's own opening hours.

Each host site sets its own hours and what it can take, so confirm with the location if the battery type is unusual.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

A Federal Way household that hauls its own material uses the city's free drop-offs and King County's weekend site. Batteries go to nine locations around the city, styrofoam and plastic film go in the City Hall lobby, and used cooking oil goes into the black container at French Lake Dog Park with oily jugs taken home instead. Household chemicals go to the Auburn Outlet Collection Wastemobile on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., which is free and takes oil based paint, batteries and bulbs under the county list. Apartment residents also have the city's drive-thru recycling event for appliances, mattresses, styrofoam, soft plastics, clean wood and metal, with the postcard voucher as proof of residence. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Federal Way.

How much does TV removal cost in Federal Way?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Federal Way?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and electronics go?

The city does not publish an electronics route, and the event list does not include them, so the city and the King County page it links are the confirmation points, and batteries can be dropped at the city's free battery locations in the meantime.Official guidance

Where do batteries go?

Batteries should not go in the trash and can be dropped free at Federal Way City Hall, the Community Center, Dumas Bay Centre, El Centro de la Raza, the South King Tool Library, the Multiservice Center, Northshore Ace Hardware, Marlene's Market and Poverty Bay Cafe, or at Call2Recycle retail locations.Official guidance

Is there a tool to look up an item?

Yes. The city points residents to its Recycle Coach tool for tips and drop-off locations and to the recycling resources page for the free drop-offs it runs, which is how an item outside the curbside carts gets matched to a site.Official guidance
