Empty the unit, keep the doors closed or removed so a child cannot be trapped inside, and keep refrigerant and oil out of the refuse cart.
Bundle the yard material and keep the refused items out
Lumber and green waste have their own rule on the bulky route: they must be bundled, weigh under 50 pounds and be less than 4 feet long, and branches are listed with a 48 inch maximum length. Construction and demolition debris, concrete, rebar, masonry, roofing materials, bricks, broken asphalt, auto parts, rocks, sod, dirt and household hazardous waste are refused, so none of those belongs in the request.
Carts go out in the evening before and come back the same day
Under the county code, no waste or container may be placed at the collection point before 5:00 p.m. of the day before the scheduled collection, and no container may stay there after 8:00 p.m. on the actual collection day, or more than two hours after collection, whichever is later. Household service runs once a week with a refuse cart, a green waste cart and a recycling cart.
At a county collection event the material goes in cardboard boxes in the trunk, away from passengers, and the boxes stay behind. Products are not mixed, each item stays in its original container unless it is labeled, like chemicals are grouped together and unlike ones separated, and containers must not leak with lids tightly sealed. Staff remove the material while the resident stays in the car, and a trip is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds.
