Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics

Accepted with preparation

A large television goes on a bulky pickup, and televisions, monitors, computers and other electronic waste are free at a county refuse disposal site e-waste area or a county e-waste event.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Electronic waste is free to drop at the county refuse disposal sites and at the county e-waste events, and a large television also rides one of the two free bulky pickups a year. The county household hazardous waste facility does not accept electronics.
When & how
Take the material to a county refuse disposal site e-waste area, drop it at a free county e-waste event, or add it to a bulky pickup booked at (800) 243-0291.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of all three carts because they contain hazardous material, and clear personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the property. The county also warns that destroying data is not part of its process, so it is the resident's job.

A bulky pickup is booked, three cubic yards at a time

A Santa Rosa household gets two free bulky pickups a year of up to three cubic yards each, which is 600 gallons or about twelve 50-gallon bags, and the service account has to be in the resident's name. Call Recology at (800) 243-0291 to book it, and schedule a multi-family pickup through the property manager.

Hazardous waste is free at the county facility

Paint, solvents, cleaners, motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, bulbs, pesticides and pool chemicals cannot go in any cart or on a bulky pile. The county household hazardous waste facility at the Central Disposal Site, 500 Mecham Rd in Petaluma, is free for Sonoma County residents with identification, needs no appointment, and opens Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A vehicle may carry 15 gallons of liquid, with no container over five gallons, or 125 pounds of solid material.

Arrange it
Call Recology at (800) 243-0291 to schedule the pickup and set the items at the curb on the confirmed day.

Three cubic yards or 600 gallons per pickup, two free pickups a year, and a further pickup, excess material or any item containing refrigerant carries a published charge. Liquids, dirt, rock, concrete or asphalt, hazardous waste, auto parts that have held fluids, engine-powered equipment and propane tanks are refused.

See the Santa Rosa bulky item rules

Additional or oversized bulky collection

A household that has used its two free pickups or has more than three cubic yards to clear at once.

Cost & conditions
$144.4 for the published rate for an additional large item collection beyond the two included pickups a year, with material beyond three cubic yards in one collection priced separately per cubic yard. Santa Rosa residential accounts that have exhausted the two free bulky pickups for the year, or that set out more than three cubic yards in a single collection.
Arrange it
Call Recology at (800) 243-0291 to book the extra or oversized collection and confirm both the per collection charge and the per cubic yard charge before the items go out.

The published rate is per collection, and the excess volume is charged per cubic yard on top of it, so the total depends on how much material goes out. The same accepted and refused item lists apply.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Santa Rosa keeps most large material on the curb, because a household gets two free bulky pickups a year of up to three cubic yards each through Recology Sonoma Marin. What a resident actually hauls goes to the county network, which Republic Services operates: the Central Disposal Site at 500 Mecham Rd in Petaluma and transfer stations at Annapolis, Guerneville, Healdsburg and Sonoma, where every vehicle is weighed and loads are limited to waste generated in Sonoma County, with refuse and mixed construction debris charged per ton and appliances priced per unit, a separate and higher rate applying to units that contain Freon. Household hazardous waste is free at the county facility on the same Petaluma site, which opened for Sonoma County residents with identification, needs no appointment, and takes paint, solvents, cleaners, oil, antifreeze, batteries and bulbs within a 15 gallon or 125 pound per vehicle limit. Electronic waste does not go to that facility; televisions, monitors and computers go to a county refuse disposal site e-waste area, a free county e-waste event, or a bulky pickup for a large television. A project load moves through a hauler bin or a weighed load at a county site, and an uncovered or unsecured load is charged per vehicle. Free county household hazardous waste drop-off

Sonoma County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, Central Disposal Site Building 5

500 Mecham Rd, Petaluma, CA

Household hazardous waste from Sonoma County residents, free of charge, including cleaning, garden, automotive and painting products, batteries, bulbs and other household chemicals. A reuse locker offers new and nearly new products, including remixed latex paint, to the public at no cost.

Sonoma County residents only, who must bring identification to prove residency, and no appointment is required. A vehicle may carry no more than 15 gallons of liquid with no container over five gallons, or 125 pounds of solid material, measured by container size rather than contents. Explosives and ammunition, radioactive material, biological or medical waste other than syringes, controlled substances, compressed gas cylinders other than 20-pound barbecue and 1-pound propane cylinders, and pressure-treated wood are refused, and electronics are not accepted here because they go to the transfer station e-waste areas.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., closed New Year's Day, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, and closed for the winter break from December 20, 2026 to January 4, 2027.

No charge. Free drop-off of hazardous waste from Sonoma County residents, with identification required to prove residency.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Santa Rosa.

How much does TV removal cost in Santa Rosa?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Santa Rosa?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do televisions and computers go in Santa Rosa?

Four routes are open: donate a working device, drop it at a participating location, drop it free at a county refuse disposal site e-waste area, or take it to a free county e-waste event. A large television can also go out on one of the two free bulky pickups a year.Official guidance

Are there free e-waste drop-off events?

Yes. Zero Waste Sonoma and the Conservation Corps North Bay run free electronics collection events at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with no appointment needed, and the published calendar includes a Santa Rosa event. The accepted list covers CRT, LCD, LED and plasma televisions and monitors, computers, laptops, tablets, printers, copiers, fax machines, microwaves, stereos, phones, servers and network equipment.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Santa Rosa?

Recology Sonoma Marin collects garbage, recycling and compost weekly for Santa Rosa households. Customer service is (800) 243-0291, the local office is at 3400 Standish Ave and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Zero Waste Sonoma runs the county bulky, hazardous waste and disposal site programs that city residents also use.Official guidance

Where do paint, oil and batteries go?

To the county household hazardous waste facility at the Central Disposal Site, 500 Mecham Rd in Petaluma. It is free for Sonoma County residents who bring identification, needs no appointment, and opens Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a limit of 15 gallons of liquid or 125 pounds of solid material per vehicle. Electronics are not accepted there, so televisions and computers take the e-waste route instead.Official guidance

What does weekly service cost a household?

The monthly rate depends on the size of the garbage cart, and each cart size has its own published rate on the schedule effective January 1, 2026, with recycling and compost collection free of charge. Households enrolled in the Pacific Gas and Electric CARE program may qualify for a fifteen per cent discount through the Recology Cares program, which requires a copy of the current PG&E bill.Official guidance

What happens to a holiday tree?

Trees are collected at the curb on the service day between December 30 and January 10. After that, a tree can be cut to fit inside the green cart with the stakes removed and set out on the regular service day, and there is also a drop-off at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, 1350 Bennett Valley Rd, between December 26 and January 17.Official guidance
