Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and small electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronic devices have been banned from Colorado landfills since July 2013 and the Front Range Landfill refuses them, so televisions, computers and small electronics go to Eco-Cycle's hard-to-recycle center in Boulder.

City cost & eligibility
$3 per vehicle entering the hard-to-recycle center as a facility fee, with no item fee for computers, phones and tablets but an item fee for displays, monitors, televisions and printers. Any household at the hard-to-recycle center, which states that place of residence does not affect access or fees.
When & how
Take electronics to the hard-to-recycle center at 6400 Arapahoe Road in Boulder, open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and keep the devices out of every cart, out of the landfill load and out of the county recycling drop-off.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data before the device leaves the house, remove bulbs from lamps and housings where the receiving site asks for it, and keep the electronics separate from a household load, because the landfill refuses them.

The landfill refuses cooling units, electronics and hazardous material

The Front Range Landfill does not accept refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, batteries, electronic waste, hazardous waste, hot ashes, liquids including paint and oil, mercury fluorescent bulbs, propane containers, tires or toxic waste, and electronic devices have been banned from Colorado landfill disposal since July 1, 2013. Those categories move to Eco-Cycle's hard-to-recycle center in Boulder or to the county Hazardous Materials Management Facility, so plan the load in two parts rather than mixing them.

Drop hard-to-recycle items at the Boulder center

A Niwot household with a mattress or bedding, a television, computer or small appliance, a refrigerator, freezer, air conditioning unit or dehumidifier, hardened concrete, scrap metal or bikes.

Cost & conditions
$3 per vehicle entering the center as a facility fee, charged before any item fee. Any household, because the center states that place of residence does not determine whether you can use it or affect fees. The facility fee is waived for customers arriving by bicycle, computers, phones, tablets and bikes carry no item fee, and mattresses, displays, televisions, printers, small appliances, refrigerant appliances and concrete carry an item fee on top.
Arrange it
Drive to 6400 Arapahoe Road in Boulder, on Recycle Row next to Resource Central, open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and closed Sundays. No appointment is needed, and the center answers at 303-444-6634 when weather looks doubtful.

Item fees are charged on top of the facility fee for mattresses and bedding, displays, televisions, printers, small plastic appliances, refrigerant appliances and concrete, and mouldy or infested bedding is refused. Bring the load in a vehicle rather than by mail, because the center asks customers not to ship material.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Niwot is unincorporated, so there is no town collection and Boulder County states that it does not haul waste from homes or businesses. The company that collects your carts is licensed by the county, which requires Pay-as-You-Throw pricing, single-stream recycling, composting in some areas and annual reporting, so ask that hauler first about anything large. What a hauler will not take can go to the Front Range Landfill in Erie on Weld County Road 5, open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., where a car load is charged a flat rate, tonnage loads are charged by weight with a minimum, a couch or a mattress is charged per item and white goods such as washers, dryers and stoves are recycled for a per item fee. Tarp and secure every load or it is charged double, and bring a reflective safety vest. The landfill refuses refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, batteries, electronics, hazardous waste, liquids, propane and tires, so those go to Eco-Cycle's hard-to-recycle center at 6400 Arapahoe Road in Boulder for a facility fee plus item fees, or to the county Hazardous Materials Management Facility at 1901 63rd Street for paint, chemicals, oil, antifreeze and sharps. Single-stream recycling can be dropped free at the county center on 63rd Street at any hour, yard and wood waste go to the county sponsored drop-off at Western Disposal with a 40 per cent resident discount, and the county Recycling Center refuses hazardous material. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Niwot.

How much does TV removal cost in Niwot?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Niwot?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Where do Niwot televisions and computers go?

Not into the landfill, because electronic devices have been banned from Colorado landfill disposal since July 1, 2013 and the Front Range Landfill refuses them. Take them to Eco-Cycle's hard-to-recycle center at 6400 Arapahoe Road in Boulder, where computers, mobile phones and tablets carry no item fee, while displays, monitors, televisions and printers carry one on top of the facility fee.Official guidance
