Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Weekly bulky waste

Accepted with preparation

Bulky waste is any large item that will not fit in the garbage cart, and the town collects it every week on the regular garbage day. It travels as one organized pile at the curb, stays under 500 pounds, and is covered by the monthly garbage charge.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Bulky waste collection is included in the monthly garbage charge on the utility bill, which is effective May 1, 2026 and also covers garbage, recycling, brush, landscape waste and fall leaves.
When & how
Bulky waste is collected each week on the household's regular garbage collection day. Brush, landscape waste and bulky waste are not picked up on holidays when town offices are closed, and the route generally moves to the next regular garbage day.
Get it ready
Place items loose at the curb rather than in a box or a non-Town cart, keep one organized pile instead of several, put it out after 6 p.m. the day before or before 6 a.m. on the collection day, and lay material lengthwise on sloped right of ways. Nothing may weigh or total more than 500 pounds, and the town asks for a call when glass or mirrors go out because a hand pickup may be needed.

Construction and remodeling debris

Not on the regular city route

Normal does not take renovation material through the curbside program. Debris over 500 pounds, contractor waste, and work such as re-roofing or removing and replacing concrete driveways and sidewalks all require the property owner to rent a commercial dumpster from a private firm.

City cost & eligibility
The town does not collect construction or remodeling debris as bulky waste. Debris over 500 pounds, contractor waste and major renovation loads need a commercial dumpster rented from a private firm, and the contractor is expected to haul away waste from work the contractor performed.
When & how
Arrange the commercial container before the work starts, because bulky waste runs only on the regular garbage day and the town will not take a project load as a household pile.
Get it ready
Keep contractor debris off the curb and have the contractor haul it away, and order a dumpster for re-roofing, concrete work and any pile over 500 pounds. Boards from small household jobs can go out with bulky waste only when the nails are removed or the points turned down.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

One organized bulky pile, under the weight cap

Bulky waste goes loose at the curb as one organized pile, out after 6 p.m. the day before or before 6 a.m. on the collection day, and never over 500 pounds. Lay material lengthwise on sloped right of ways, keep it out of boxes and non-Town carts, and call the town when glass or mirrors are involved because a hand pickup may be scheduled.

Bulky Waste

What travels on a different route

Bags of garbage stay in the Town cart, and landscape waste and brush go out in their own piles rather than in the bulky waste. Electronics are excluded by state law and go to the self-service drop-off on Warriner Street, and debris over 500 pounds or from contractor work needs a commercial container instead of a household pile.

A household with furniture, a mattress, an appliance or another large item that will not fit in the garbage cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Included in the monthly garbage charge on the Town utility bill, along with garbage, recycling, brush, landscape waste and fall leaves.
Arrange it
Put the items loose at the curb in one organized pile on your regular garbage collection day, using the same curbside timing as the carts, and call 309-454-9571 with questions between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Nothing over 500 pounds or from contractor work is accepted, electronics, landscape waste and brush travel on their own routes, and bulky waste is not collected on holidays when town offices are closed.

Normal bulky waste

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self-hauling in Normal runs through the town's own Public Works yard. The self-service electronics recycling site at 1301 Warriner Street, past the main Public Works building and marked with yellow signs, takes televisions, computers, monitors, printers, scanners, receivers, video game consoles, phones and cables free from McLean County residents, and it refuses appliances, microwaves, dehumidifiers, alkaline batteries and light bulbs. Other household material has its own route: alkaline batteries go in the garbage cart or to a participating retailer, motor oil, antifreeze and used cooking oil go to Team Automotive on South Adelaide Street, compact fluorescent bulbs and tubes go to Echo Electric in Bloomington, and paint and household hazardous waste go through the Ecology Action Center and the PaintCare programme. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Normal.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Normal?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Normal?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

How should a bulky pile be set out in Normal?

Loose at the curb in one organized pile, out after 6 p.m. the day before or before 6 a.m. on your collection day, and never over 500 pounds. Do not put the material in a box or a non-Town cart, keep it parallel to the curb on a slope, and call Public Works when glass or mirrors are involved because a hand pickup may be scheduled.Official guidance

Will the town take renovation debris?

No. Normal does not collect construction and remodeling debris through the curbside program. Debris over 500 pounds, work done by contractors, re-roofing, and removing or replacing concrete driveways and sidewalks all require a commercial dumpster rented from a private firm, and the contractor hauls away the waste from contractor work.Official guidance

What counts as bulky waste in Normal?

Anything too large for the garbage cart. Furniture, mattresses, refrigerators and freezers with the doors removed, ovens, washing machines, dehumidifiers, microwaves, carpet, boards and framed glass are on the list the town collects, and the whole set-out has to stay under 500 pounds and sit loose at the curb as one organized pile.Official guidance

Does Normal charge extra for a bulky pickup?

No. The monthly garbage charge on the utility bill includes the curbside collections for garbage, recycling, bulky waste, brush, landscape waste and fall leaves, so a household does not pay a separate amount for each bulky item. Anything above the 500 pound cap or from contractor work has to be handled with a commercial container instead.Official guidance

Is trash collected on holidays in Normal?

Household garbage and recycling in Town carts are collected on every holiday except Christmas Day, and when Christmas falls on a weekday that day's collection moves to the next regular business day. Bulky waste, brush and landscape waste are the exceptions: they are not collected on holidays when town offices are closed and generally move to the next regular garbage day.Official guidance
