Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Illinois has banned covered electronics from landfill since 2012, and Tinley Park answers that with a scheduled curbside electronic pickup that is included with the service. A single family home is limited to two televisions or monitors a year, and the operator lists the covered devices it takes.

City cost & eligibility
The village describes electronic collection as one of the benefits included in the January 2026 contract, and the operator describes the same pickup as part of the residential service, but neither publishes a separate electronic pickup price. Confirm with Homewood Disposal on 708-798-1004 when the pickup is requested, and note that once the television and monitor allowance for the year is used the remaining route is a hard to recycle drop-off.
When & how
Request the pickup first, then set the electronics at the curb next to the garbage cart by 7 a.m. so the separate electronics truck can collect them the same day.
Get it ready
Keep the screens and tubes intact because a broken unit is not collected, erase or destroy personal data before the device leaves the house, and keep batteries out of the electronics pile because batteries have their own disposal rules.

The 2026 contract sets the carts, the rates and the rules

Tinley Park's contract with Homewood Disposal Services took effect January 20, 2026, and the village publishes what it bought: a brown 95 gallon garbage cart and a green 95 gallon recycling cart at every home, additional carts for rent at 3 dollars a month for recycling, and benefits that include electronic collection, Christmas tree collection, senior and veteran discounts and an opt-in for townhome and condominium associations. As of October 1, 2026 the monthly rate is 31.16 dollars for residents, 29.66 for residents 65 and over, and nothing for certified 100 percent disabled veterans, with the discounts available only to households in the village program paying contractual rates. Village ordinance requires carts at the end of the driveway and not in the street, and payments go to Homewood Disposal rather than Village Hall.

Electronics, paint and chemicals have their own routes

Illinois banned covered electronics from landfill in 2012, so the village includes a scheduled curbside electronic pickup that has to be requested before collection and limits a single family home to two televisions or monitors a year, with screens and tubes required to be intact and data erased by the household. Paint splits by type: latex paint is non-hazardous, so it can be dried solid and put out beside the trash, while oil based paint cannot sit at the curb because it is hazardous. Household chemicals, gasoline, antifreeze, propane, car batteries, lithium and rechargeable batteries and compact fluorescent bulbs all have to leave the carts, and the routes are the Naperville regional site at 156 Fort Hill Drive on weekends, the Chicago Goose Island site on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month, the Illinois EPA one-day collections that need pre-registration, year-round PaintCare paint drop-offs that take no aerosols, and the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials at South Suburban College in South Holland for Cook County residents.

Schedule the curbside electronic pickup

A household with a television, monitor, computer, printer, console or other covered electronic device.

Cost & conditions
The village lists electronic collection among the benefits of the January 2026 contract and the operator presents the same pickup as part of the residential service, but neither publishes a separate electronic pickup price. Confirm with Homewood Disposal on 708-798-1004 when the pickup is requested, and remember that a single family home is limited to two televisions or monitors a year.
Arrange it
Request the pickup online or by phone, then set the electronics next to the garbage cart by 7 a.m. for the separate electronics truck on the regular collection day.

Screens and tubes have to be intact, personal data is the household's responsibility, and the television and monitor allowance is capped each year.

Drive to the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials

A Cook County household with furniture, small appliances, electronics, textiles or other hard to recycle material in one trip.

Cost & conditions
The village publishes the drop-off hours and the accepted material list but not a price, so confirm with the center on (708) 596-2000 extension 2442 whether any material carries a fee before loading a vehicle.
Arrange it
Take the material to South Suburban College at 15800 S. State St., South Holland, during the published windows, and check the center's own page for current details.

The village lists the service for Cook County residents, and the published windows are narrow: Tuesday mornings, Thursday afternoons and the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Tinley Park sorts its disposal routes by material rather than sending residents to one county site. The village's contract with Homewood Disposal Services, effective January 20, 2026, includes one large item a week on the regular collection day, so a sofa, mattress, cabinet or bike needs no appointment, and the operator adds that a mattress and box spring go out together as a set, that furniture has to be light enough for one person or broken into 50 pound pieces, that one large appliance a week is collected by a separate lift gate truck when the household calls ahead with the doors removed, and that two 50 pound cans of construction debris go out weekly, with larger loads going to a transfer station charged by the ton. What does not fit that allowance is priced or redirected: an oversized item such as a piano, hot tub or spa costs 45 dollars, electronic collection is scheduled and capped at two televisions or monitors a single family home a year, and paint, chemicals and batteries fall to their own programs. Latex paint is non-hazardous and can be dried solid and set out beside the trash, while oil based paint, solvents, gasoline, antifreeze, propane and other chemicals belong at a household hazardous waste collection, either the Naperville regional site on weekends, the Chicago Goose Island site on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month, or a pre-registered Illinois EPA one-day event, and Will County takes latex and oil based paint at its one-day events with a 15 gallon limit. Year-round PaintCare drop-off sites take architectural coatings at no charge but not aerosols. Cook County residents can also use the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials at South Suburban College in South Holland for furniture, small appliances, electronics, textiles and Styrofoam, and used tires go back to a tire retailer under the Illinois exchange rule. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Tinley Park.

How much does TV removal cost in Tinley Park?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Tinley Park?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

How many televisions can I put out in a year?

Two, for a single family home. The village states that residents can receive electronic collection as needed but that it must be scheduled with Homewood Disposal before collection, and that residents are limited to two televisions or monitors per single family home per year. The operator describes the limit as a quantity restriction on televisions and monitors within a rolling twelve months and points residents back to the village page for the figure.Official guidance

How does electronic waste leave the house?

Through a scheduled curbside pickup, because Illinois banned covered electronics from landfill in 2012 and the village includes electronic collection in the current contract. Request the pickup from Homewood Disposal, then set the devices next to the garbage cart by 7 a.m. so the separate electronics truck takes them the same day. Screens and tubes must be intact, personal data is the household's responsibility, and a single family home is limited to two televisions or monitors a year.Official guidance

Where can I take hard to recycle items?

Cook County residents can use the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials at South Suburban College, 15800 S. State St., South Holland, which the village lists for clothing, computers, electronic waste, furniture, glass, metal, paper, plastic, small appliances, Styrofoam and textiles. The published windows are 8 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturday of each month.Official guidance
