A clear count. An exact price.

Count the bags and boxes, not everything inside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.

Filled bags and boxes

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.

Empty cardboard and containers

Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Furniture and other larger items

Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Bulky items and the five item set-out

Accepted with preparation

Bulky collection is Fayetteville's route for household items too large for the cart, and it is the simplest piece of the service: up to five items at no charge on B week, on the same day as the yard waste collection for the address. Six or more items, and a pile that runs past 20 cubic yards, have to be paid for and scheduled.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Single-family residences and units in multi-family properties of seven units or less that pay the annual residential solid waste fee, with up to five bulky items collected at no additional charge.
When & how
Put the items at the curb by 6 a.m. on the B week bulky day. A larger load is scheduled through the FayFixIt app, the 1FAY Call Center on 910-433-1FAY, or 455 Grove Street, and paid collections are set out and inspected before payment.
Get it ready
Keep the load orderly and at least four feet from carts, fences, mailboxes, trees, poles and vehicles, and keep it clear of the road and any low hanging line. There has to be a single-family residential unit on the property, waste is not collected from a vacant or abandoned lot, and anything mixed with other waste is refused.

Curb by 6 a.m., four feet from everything else

Bulky items go to the curb by 6 a.m. on the collection day and sit at least four feet from carts, fences, mailboxes, trees, poles, vehicles and other obstructions so the truck arm has room to work. Rollout carts follow their own placement rules, one foot from the curb with the handles facing the residence and the lids within six to eight inches of closing.

Empty the piece and deal with the doors

Every bulky item has to be emptied before collection, and the city lists refrigerators, freezers, cabinets, entertainment centers and all other furniture and appliances in that requirement. Doors must be secured or removed from anything that can latch, and the county adds the same rule at the Ann Street Landfill white goods area, where refrigerators and freezers have to be empty with the doors removed.

Metal items wait for Wednesday

Metal does not travel with the ordinary bulky pile. Bicycles, refrigerators, washing machines and dryers are collected only on Wednesdays, and the collection has to be scheduled on 910-433-1FAY rather than simply set out on the B week bulky day. Lawn mowers and other lawn care equipment are drained of oil and gasoline first, and concrete inside or attached to metal poles is removed.

Paid loads are inspected and paid first

The city states that all fees must be paid before collection, and the bulky guide adds that paid collections are set out and inspected before payment, so a scheduled load is seen at the curb first and then paid for. A load carrying construction debris, more than five bulky items or a contractor pile is refused, and a mixed pile of bulky items and other waste is not collected at all.

Set out up to five bulky items on B week

A household with a couch, a table, chairs, household clutter or another large item that will not fit in the cart.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Single-family residences and units in multi-family properties of seven units or less that pay the annual residential solid waste fee, with up to five bulky items collected at no additional charge.
Arrange it
Put up to five items at the curb by 6 a.m. on the B week bulky day, which is the same day as the yard waste collection for the address, four feet from carts, fences, mailboxes, trees and vehicles. Larger or awkward loads are scheduled through the FayFixIt app, the 1FAY Call Center on 910-433-1FAY, or 455 Grove Street.

Five items is the ceiling for the free set-out, the property has to hold a single-family residential unit, waste is not collected from a vacant or abandoned lot, a mixed pile is refused, and contractor debris, tires, fuel containers, automobile parts, glass, dirt, rocks, tree stumps, oxygen tanks, batteries, propane tanks, electronics, paint and chemicals never go in the pile.

Schedule and pay for a larger or move-out load

A household with more than five bulky items, a big pile, or a house being cleared out.

Cost & conditions
From $100 per scheduled bulky load of six items or more up to 20 cubic yards, with more than 20 cubic yards at 357 dollars a load and a move-out pickup at 100 dollars under 20 cubic yards or 357 dollars at 20 cubic yards and above. Households at a property with a single-family residential unit that pay the annual residential solid waste fee. The fee has to be paid before collection, after the load is set out and inspected.
Arrange it
Call the 1FAY Call Center at 910-433-1FAY, use the FayFixIt app, or visit 455 Grove Street to open the request. The call center answers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, the load is inspected at the curb, and payment is made before the collection happens.

The paid schedule covers bulky household material rather than construction or hazardous material, and the fee is charged by volume, so the pile has to be measured before the price is fixed. Contractor-generated debris is refused at any price, and the pile still has to be four feet clear of obstruction and free of mixed waste.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in fayetteville.

How much does bulk junk removal cost in fayetteville?

A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.

Can you pick up bags of junk today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?

No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.

Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.

Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?

Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.

How many bulky items can I put out at once?

Five items or less at no charge, on B week, on the same day as the yard waste collection. Six or more items up to 20 cubic yards is a paid scheduled load, and anything past 20 cubic yards is a larger paid load, both arranged through the FayFixIt app, the 1FAY Call Center at 910-433-1FAY or 455 Grove Street. The items have to be four feet from carts, fences, mailboxes, trees and vehicles.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Fayetteville?

The City of Fayetteville Solid Waste Division, under Public Services. Household waste goes out weekly in a city-issued 96 gallon cart, recyclables every other week in the blue cart, yard waste as up to ten containerized items a week, large limbs up to ten cubic yards on A week and bulky items up to five on B week, all under the same annual residential fee. The 1FAY Call Center on 910-433-1FAY answers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and the Solid Waste office is at 455 Grove Street.Official guidance

Which collections have to be paid for?

Anything past the free limits. Six or more bulky items and any pile over 20 cubic yards are paid and scheduled, household construction debris is paid by volume with a single commode collected at no charge, and a lawn or yard load above the standard amount is paid as well. The city states that all fees must be paid before collection, and the bulky guide adds that paid collections are set out and inspected before payment.Official guidance

Where do bulky items go on collection day?

To the curb by 6 a.m., laid out at least four feet from carts, fences, mailboxes, trees, poles and vehicles, and clear of the road and any low hanging line. Each household needs a single-family residential unit on the property, waste is not collected from a vacant or abandoned lot, bulky items cannot be mixed with other waste, and metal items wait for a scheduled Wednesday collection instead of going out with the pile.Official guidance
