Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Salt Lake County landfill and hazardous waste facility

Households hauling their own load, including FREON appliances, electronics, tires and household hazardous waste.

Cost & conditions
Salt Lake County sets its own landfill and hazardous waste fees through the scales, and no amount is published on the City pages, so confirm the current charges with the county at 385-468-6370 before loading.
Arrange it
Take the load to 6030 W. California Ave. (1300 S.) in Salt Lake City, open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and proceed to the scales for disposal loads, household hazardous waste and compost purchases.

Loads must be securely covered under Utah Code, and from January 1, 2026 a vehicle in violation is charged an additional fee equal to the disposal price. The hazardous waste location does not accept business waste, tires are for residential customers only and must be placed in the tire recycling pile, and solar panels and battery systems are not accepted.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

West Valley City's self-haul route for material the curb refuses is the Salt Lake County Landfill at 6030 W. California Ave. (1300 S.) in Salt Lake City, open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Sundays, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Every disposal load, household hazardous waste drop and compost purchase goes through the scales, and the household hazardous waste location does not accept business waste. Loads must be securely covered under Utah Code, because from January 1, 2026 a vehicle in violation is charged an additional fee equal to the disposal price, and a weight based transaction without an account needs a government issued ID with a Salt Lake County address or valid vehicle registration proof. Tires are accepted for residential customers only and must be placed in the designated tire recycling pile, solar panels and battery systems are refused, and the curbside bulky routes refuse household garbage, hazardous material, construction debris, glass items and tires, so those loads come here instead. Electronics are not part of the curbside bulky list, and the household hazardous waste location does not accept business waste. Solar panels and battery systems are not accepted.

Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sundays, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

The county sets its own disposal and hazardous waste charges at the scales and does not publish them on the City pages, so confirm the current amounts with Salt Lake County at 385-468-6370.
