Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

  1. Arrange any unmounting first.

Dropcurb does not remove TVs from walls or do indoor carrying. Arrange the help you need before pickup day, including the trip down interior stairs or through an elevator.

  2. Choose a permitted outdoor spot.

Use a stable, accessible location with a clear path for loading. Keep the TV separate from anything staying. Check building rules before placing it in a shared pickup area.

  3. Show us the TV that is going.

Add a location photo and access notes after booking. Follow the readiness instructions in your confirmation. For exposed broken glass or unusual damage, send a photo and check with us before booking.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Residents who haul their own material use the SPSA Chesapeake Transfer Station on Hollowell Lane for household waste, furniture, mattresses and appliances, or the Regional Landfill in Suffolk for appliances without a refrigerant-free sticker, scrap metal, large concrete loads, oversized limbs and automobile tires. Both routes require proof of SPSA service area residency and a personal vehicle, and the transfer station allows 12 free residential visits each calendar year, so check the current schedule and any charge before loading. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Chesapeake.

How much does TV removal cost in Chesapeake?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Chesapeake?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can I recycle a television in Chesapeake?

A television cannot go in the city trash cart or a recycling container. SPSA takes monitors and televisions at the household hazardous waste and e-waste drop-off at the Chesapeake Transfer Station on the first Wednesday and third Saturday of the month, 9 a.m. to noon, with a limit of 5 items per day. Confirm the screen type before hauling it, because Chesapeake Recycles Day events refuse tube televisions.Official guidance

Why does a Chesapeake pickup depend on which program serves the address?

Chesapeake is an independent city, and the City Waste Management Division collects from the residences it serves rather than from a surrounding county. A residence outside that service area, or a building whose waste is handled privately, has to use the SPSA transfer stations instead, and those sites serve member-community residents with proof of residency.Official guidance

Where can I take something the city will not collect?

Homeowner remodeling material, tires and large metal loads go to an SPSA transfer station or the Regional Landfill in Suffolk. Household hazardous waste and electronics go to the Chesapeake Transfer Station on the first Wednesday or third Saturday of the month, and the city's Recycles Day events take the same material on scheduled Saturdays.Official guidance
