Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Accepted with preparation

Flat screen televisions up to 42 inches are taken at the Recycling Drive, while a television with a tube is refused there and may go out with the regular trash.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. City of Suffolk residents at the Recycling Drive and Tire Amnesty Day for a flat screen television of 42 inches or less, or through the regular refuse collection for a television with a tube, which the city states may be placed out with the trash.
When & how
Take a flat screen set of 42 inches or less to the next Recycling Drive, listed as November 14, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Public Works Operations, 800 Carolina Road, or put a tube set out with the regular trash on the normal collection day.
Get it ready
Keep the set whole, erase anything stored on it, measure the screen against the 42 inch limit the city publishes, and do not take a tube television to the drive, because the city states that televisions with tubes are not accepted there and should go out with the regular trash instead.
