City cost & eligibility
$90 for annual yard waste subscription fee for the season, set by the Board of Public Works and not pro-rated, with a separate barrel deposit for new customers. Bristol residential addresses subscribing to the curbside yard waste service and receiving the 95 gallon yard waste barrel. Brush pickup is arranged separately by appointment during the season.
When & how
Subscribe for the season, then put the barrel out by 6 a.m. on the weekly yard waste day. Brush and branch collections are scheduled for Wednesdays, or Thursday during holiday weeks, and only during the season.
Get it ready
Space barrels at least five feet apart. Branches must be under six inches in diameter and cut to four feet or less, tied into secure bundles one person can lift, with the whole pile no larger than four by four by four feet. Loose piles are not collected, and pickups pause in winter.
Bulk pickup does not accept yard debris. Yard waste needs the paid subscription barrel or a transfer station visit with a residential permit, and brush goes out only by appointment during the season.

Bristol separates bulk pickup into two piles, metal and non-burnable on one side and burnable furniture and mattresses on the other, and the first pickup each calendar year is free for a qualified residential property. Yard debris is not part of bulk: residents either subscribe to the weekly yard waste barrel for a seasonal fee or bring brush and yard waste to the transfer station with a residential permit and a funded account. Larger or mounted tire loads and other material the bulk rules do not cover should be confirmed with Public Works before the load moves. A valid Transfer Station permit and funds on the account are required for entry, and residential permit holders must bring the permit and a Bristol license or identification. Residents who dispose of more than 2.5 tons in a year are reclassified after the annual audit, and the Department also reviews two years of usage. Confirm current material rules with Public Works before loading anything beyond yard waste.

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Checkout shows the available dates for your address. Your booking is for a pickup day, rather than an exact arrival window. We send updates and photos after collection.
Where should I put my items?+
Use an accessible outdoor spot you are allowed to use, and follow the instructions in your confirmation. Keep sidewalks, entrances and vehicle access clear. You arrange any indoor carrying. For a loading dock or a short building access window, confirm the setup with our team before booking.
When does yard waste service run?+

Is my first bulk pickup really free?+
The first pickup each calendar year for a residential building is free, and the City states that property owners receive the 2026 pickup without payment. Only the property owner, landlord or property manager can request that free collection, and a tenant who schedules without going through the owner pays the published fee instead. Later collections in the same year carry a published fee, and a missed appointment costs a fee to reschedule.Official guidance
